New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

New Features: 1/27/2022

  • Supports the Insight Business VPN add-on service when managed through Insight.

Known Issues:

  • After updating the router firmware, existing clients can be steered to the router because the wireless readiness in the router is faster than the wireless readiness in the satellite.
Workaround: Connected clients might notice slower throughput or a weaker signal, which resolves when the user roams or reconnects.
  • The device UI can be accessed via the default VLAN network only.
Workaround: Connect to a WiFi network that uses the default VLAN profile when you want to access the device UI.
  • When the MAC ACL default policy for Ethernet is set to Deny for a cabled satellite, WiFi clients can be blocked.
Workaround: Keep the MAC ACL policy for Ethernet connections set to Allow for a cabled satellite.

Firmware Update Instructions:

If the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mini devices are connected to the Insight cloud, perform firmware updates automatically through the firmware schedule policy, or manually perform a firmware update using the Insight app or device UI.

To update Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mini router or satellite firmware from the device UI, follow the instructions in your product’s user manual. To find your user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/, enter your model number in the search box, and click Documentation on the product page. We highly recommend updating the SXS30 satellite firmware first and then updating the SXR30 router firmware.

After updating to the latest firmware, make sure to update your version of the NETGEAR Insight app for the best functionality and user experience.

Re: New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

So I got this FW loaded up. A factory reset was performed and setup from scratch using a web browser and wire connected PC. I setup AP mode as I already have a host router online.

Something I'm noticing with the SXR log in credentials...seems that after I input the admin and PW during the setup wizard, I came back the next day and could not log into the SXR using these values. I even wrote down the password to be sure. I cleared browser caches as well. I had to use the password recovery method to input a new/same PW value to gain access. I've seen this twice since loading this version of FW. It has been a while since I had used the 30 series Orbi so I wanted to try this out and put the Orbi online in AP mode. I was able to log into the system with the Insight app initially as well. I need to check again with Insight app when I noticed I can't get in with a web browser. I was using MS Edge and Opera GX when I found that I couldn't log in. I'll check on this again today and see what I find. Thought I would post this here to see if anyone else has noticed this as well.

Re: New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

Wanted to upate this as this is still happening. I left my SXR OFF for past few days and put it online today and again, I could not get in to the routers web page using MS Edge and the known password I gave it. The log in input window would refresh and input boxes would return as blank. I had to use the recovery method and input the router serial # to get in.

After getting in I looked at the Logs and found the following:

[admin login] from source 192.168.0.100

IM going to be putting the SXR online as main host router behind a CBR750 in modem only mode and see how things go.

I'll check for this issue while its in router mode.

Re: New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

Hi

Here is my suspection

1. Is your Orbi Pro manged by Insight? If yes, the password in local will be overriden by Insight. Insight takes over the control. Configuration will be provisipned from Insight to Orbi Pro

2. CBR750 synced its configuration to Orbi Pro? I am not sure.

When you find you cannot login anymore, do you see SSID name is changed in your home?

What password would Insight put in it's place then on the SXR? I know that when I had Insight running, it was able to log in to it on that app, however I didn't try after noticing that I couldn't log in on the SXRs web page. I immediately went to the recovery page to get logged back in on the SXRs web page. I would presume that Insight app should not be changing the SXRs web page log in as it should remain as what was configured by a user using the SXRs setup wizard if a user is using this setup path.

2. CBR750 synced its configuration to Orbi Pro? I am not sure. I've removed the CBR750 from service as I believe that was not working correctly with the SXK system and other Orbi systems I have. I have put in place a CAX80 in modem only mode and will retest the SXK30 system again.

When you find you cannot login anymore, do you see SSID name is changed in your home? No SSID remained the same.

Re: New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

Hi

Insight cloud manages devices in a location with the same password.

Once device is adopted by Insight, Insight will provision the password to the device.

The password setting in Insight: see the bottom. There is a icon with "Locations". Select "location Configuration". Check "Device Admin Password".

In fact, when devices is managed by Insight. Users should always configure or montior devices via Insight, unless there some problems.

Your suggestion is correct. I think we should put some information to tell users the failure if AP is managed by Insight.

Please check if you can login now.

Re: New - SXK30 Series Firmware Version v4.0.1.100 Released

HI @BruceGuo

Ya, After leaving the SXR in AP mode for past several days, managed to get this tested again today.

I could log in to the SXRs web page using my configured log in and PW set up while using a web browser and the factory setup wizard. No InSight app connected.

However after connecting both of my iphone and pad with Insight, seeing them configure the SXR and complete that. I could no longer log in to the SXRs web page using the PC and Web browser. 3 failed attempts takes me to the PW recovery page.

Yes, following the path in Insight: "Locations". Select "location Configuration". Check "Device Admin Password". I see where there is a difference in the PW. The previous PW was listed in this configuration and doesn't meet the newer PW requirements seen during the setup wizard with a web browser and PC. So I guess when I reset the SXR and walked thru the setup wizard, I generated a newer PW that met the new PW requirements using the setup wizard in the web browser page. Then with what was set previously in Inisight, was over writting the newer PW when I conntected to the SXR wit the app.

I then changed the previous PW seen in the InSight app and applied the change. I had to reboot the SXR to effect the change. After that, the PC and web browser and InSight app are now synced and accessible on both platforms.

Yes. I would request that a KB be generated regarding this Inisight app configuration behavior and include the path to the location configuration and ensure users understand how this app should work as well as information regarding PC and web browser log in configurations and what users should see and expect from both log in platforms when the InSight app is used.

Thank you.
