ReadyNass will not connect to router - cannot discover

My ReadyNas will not connect to my router. It shows as offline and not discoverable. I've used multiple different cords to plug it in and have tried plugging it into my computer, etc. It appears that it is litterally NOT discoverable. I've done multiple hard resets. HELP!

Hi mchughsvc,

Welcome to the Community!

Do you have an IP address manually assigned to the NAS before? If yes, is it on the same subnet with the router?

Are you also using RAIDar in discovering the NAS?

I previously had them set to the same static IP. RAIDar also won’t discover it! It’s connected into the router but even in my router admin page, it doesn’t show up as a connected device. I am no longer able to log into the ReadyNAS admin page, it says it can’t connect to that page. I’ve tried different browsers, computers... everything.

Hi mchughsvc,

Does the NAS have a link light on its LAN port?

You can try doing an OS re-install so the NAS network settings go back to default and it will get a new IP address from the router. You may check this article for the steps on how to access the boot menu and select OS re-install.

If it is still the same, you can try removing the drives from the NAS (label them with its corresponding bay) and see if RAIDar can detect it with a status of "No Disk Detected".

Unfortunately, neither worked. I did a full factory reset and RAIDar still can’t find it on the network. I took the bays out... still no luck.

Is the ethernet LED lit on the router switch port?

No. And I tried different ports and different cords.

Then the NAS ethernet interface likely has failed. It might be worth confirming by connecting the NAS directly to a PC ethernet port, and checking the LED on the PC. Probably best to try this with the disks removed - eliminating any chance that the file system corruption on the disks is getting in the way. There's also a LED on the NAS port btw.

If it is the ethernet port, then it isn't repairable.  If the NAS is covered by the warranty, you can get a replacement from Netgear via my.netgear.com.  But if your NAS isn't still under warranty (which is likely the case if you have an RN202), then you'll need to purchase a new NAS.  The RN212 would be the equivalent model now.  You would be able to directly migrate your disks to the RN212.
