Amazon Glacier
I know the topic has been brought up multiple times for Amazon S3 support, but here's another option: Amazon Glacier. It's designed specifically as a data archival/backup system and would be a nice additional way for the ReadyNAS to interface with a backup service such as Vault if designed as a plugin.

Re: Amazon Glacier
I would be very interested in this myself. Glacier looks fantastic and I would love to have my NAS handle the backing up automatically.

+1
I would love to see a plugin to Glacier so I can stop fussing around with temperamental USB disks.

So far, seems like slim pickings for glacier clients for linux, just one Java based version that I have found so far.

Re: Amazon Glacier
I fully agree.
And why does so few of the major online storage providers provide support for rsync?

Re: Amazon Glacier
yup. waiting on this thread to see if there's a good solution.
So, admitting my ignorance, couldn't I just run a PC-based client and choose my NAS directories as the source to be backed up to Glacier? It's not "great", but I'd think it would work(?)

It seems Synology have it ready for their next release ... https://www.facebook.com/synology/posts/422178807864613
With two NV+s here now, it'd be a nice feature to have!

Re: Amazon Glacier
If you have an NV+ v1, it would take a community add-on to possibly add it. NTGR has EOL'd that, and won't be making feature updates. The v2 could be possible, but again, they don't seem to have priorities set straight.
The Java part is easy, since Genie on the v2 requires Java anyways, so it's already on the system.

Plus the v1 won't run Java.

I've got one of each, so could probably cope with it on just the v2, if it can be done.. That's the one with the important stuff on it anyway!
