Can't delete snapshots on FW 6.9.2

Based on other threads I believe more people are experiencing this problem: ghost snapshots that you can't delete from the UI.

Looks like Netgear hasn't been doing proper QC / regression of the latest firmware running on older models?... (if someone from Netgear read this I would really appreciate an answer).

Any ideas on how can I get rid of the snapshots that are consuming one third of my NAS capacity?

Is ssh the oly way to go?

Thanks in advance

Your initrd.log is

[2013/10/18 02:44:22] Factory default initiated by button!
[2013/10/18 02:44:25] Defaulting to X-RAID2 mode, RAID level 1
[2013/10/18 02:44:48] Factory default initiated on ReadyNASOS .
[2013/10/17 19:26:17] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.0.0 to 6.1.3.
[2013/11/01 18:50:02] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.3 to 6.1.4.
[2014/03/07 17:06:53] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.4 to 6.1.4.
[2014/03/25 14:43:45] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.4 to 6.1.6.
[2014/04/16 17:27:27] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.6 (1391111179) to 6.1.7 (1396977042).
[2014/06/10 19:08:56] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.7 (1396977042) to 6.1.8 (1398980083).
[2015/06/15 17:55:12] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.1.8 () to 6.2.4 (ReadyNASOS).
[2015/11/13 15:32:15] Could not find update image!
[2015/12/05 23:40:55] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.2.4 (ReadyNASOS) to 6.4.1 (ReadyNASOS).
[2017/04/15 05:13:37] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.4.1 (ReadyNASOS) to 6.5.2 (ReadyNASOS).
[2017/04/22 04:52:57] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.5.2 (ReadyNASOS) to 6.6.1 (ReadyNASOS).
[2018/03/10 00:58:37 UTC] Updated from ReadyNASOS 6.6.1 (ReadyNASOS) to 6.9.2 (ReadyNASOS).

There was a one-off upgrade to the snapshots when updating from pre-6.2.x to 6.2.x (or later) firmware. This didn't take place on your system.

I've now manually deleted all those old snapshots and have rebooted the system.

Just tried clicking on Download Logs on the UI... doesn't work either! 😞

Re: Can't delete snapshots on FW 6.9.2

Solved. 2 hours after I created the thread.

Not sure what to make of this, to be honest... I felt quite disapointed when I learned that there wasn't a number I could call given that I bought the NAS in 2013 and didn't want to pay for support. I then realised my only chance was the Community.

Created this thread with very low expectations, to be honest.

Assumed that, with luck, someone (not from NETGEAR) would reply tomorrow if I got lucky.

Turns out NETGEAR actively monitors the community and 'jumped' to help me asap.

All I can say is:

THANK YOU SO MUCH @mdgm-ntgr !!!

In my original text I complained about QC on firmware upgrades but as a software developer I understand that sometimes moving forward requires breaking backwards compatibility.

The thing is: some companies just do it and disregards existing customers. That's clearly not the case with NETGEAR and that really means a lot to me.

Well done!
