Problems moving from GS108 to GS116v2

I replaced an old GS108 to a GS116v2 and my home network became unusable both proximal (before) and distal (after) to the switch. Very slow and intermittent dropped signals. The green lights are flashing as if there is activity but my network became useless. I switched back to the GS108 and everything is fine again. I need the extra ports of the 116 so maybe I’ll need to buy another 108? Any advice would be appreciated.

does it resolve if its removed?

The gs116v2 is a simple unmanaged port. It shouldn't impact traffic at all as its not doing any inspection/changes.

Hello @hochan

GS116v2 is a very old switch device. It's possible that it's already broken. You may want to try capturing packets whith a computer directly connected to GS116v2 whe placed again in your network. Provide any results of the capture. You may use a very famous packet capture tool "Wireshark".

@ErwinL admitted, the GS116v2 is available (and still is in many markets from the shelves and online). Interestingly, there is another thread involving the same switch model, by a customer operating multiple Linn stremers, under the subject Streamer app not recognising streamers on wired network using GS116v2 but does when using GS108v4 - hard to imagine a simple unamanaged switch should caue such issues, especially because there is no advnced ICMP Multicast involved. Would be nice if you find some time to investigate please.

Hello @hochan

It strongly suggest to get a packet capture to see the traffic of your network. Let us just eliminate for the meantime possible reasons why you are getting such issue.

Thanks in advance!
