Well you could wait for the new version of the add-on to be ready. If you bought the 5.3.18 or 5.3.20 add-on he should email you a link to the new fixed version of the add-on when it's ready.

Hi all of you,
just wanted to give you guys another update,

I have spoken to WhoCares, he gave me a copy of the Add-on I bought. Before installing the Add-on I updated my readynas to the newest version again. After the update I installed the Add-on and now everything is working again ! So we are up and running !

Thanks Stephen, that worked (of course!).

@mgdm:
I do have PHP5 v5.3.20-sparc-4.3.5.
What I did was:
- log in via SSH
- rename \etc\frontview\apache\addons\00_php5module.conf to .../00_php5module.conf.OLD
- cd /etc/init.d
- ./frontview start
and the GUI was accessible, still under 4.1.12.
From there I reinstalled PHP5 over the former installation as suggested in the other thread.
Frontview now still works, even after a restart via SSH.
Hope it will stay like that.
Thanks anyway for your help.

I can't restart frontview I got:
flap:/etc/frontview/apache/addons# /etc/init.d/frontview start
Starting frontview: apache-sslapache-ssl: Syntax error on line 285 of /etc/frontview/apache/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/frontview/apache/addons/php5.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so: undefined symbol: xmlTextReaderSetup

It looks readynasxtras.com is down 😞

I've try contact info<at>readynasxtras<dot>com because I bought PHP 5.3.20 for ReadyNAS Sparc there. I will search maybe I didn't deleted *.bin files.

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

I have the same problem. It doesn't work. I finished step 1 and 2 but the step 3, I got this error.

NAS:~# /usr/sbin/apache-ssl -f /etc/frontview/apache/httpd.conf -k restart
apache-ssl: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 192.168.1.2 for ServerName

And also step4,

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

The BitTorrent add-on is EOL (End of Life) and no longer supported. This problem is likely to happen if you just updated from some very old versions of RAIDiator which include a very old version of the BitTorrent add-on.

# cd /etc/frontview/addons
# ls
# sh BITTORRENT.remove

Then if you still don't have Frontview access check to make sure there is no BITTORRENT.conf file (or similar) left in /etc/frontview/apache/addons and try restarting Frontview again.

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

Hi there, It seems that I have been too quick to update to 4.1.12. I had PHP installed (got an email today that there is a fix..) and deactivated SSH to save as much resources as possible.
Problem is that I can't access Frontview but all my shares work fine. Even the bittorrent add on works as normal. I have rebooted the system but no luck.
I did see a suggestion for tech mode, but I couldn't find clear instructions what to do. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Hey you guys,

I just wanna say

THANKS !!!!

You made my day, my nas is up and running agian.

Just one more question. Now I have it up and running again, my next project was to set up a tiny webserver on it. That worked out great, but when i restrict to a .php file it only try's to download it. Normaly I whould start a new topic about this, but since I had to rename a file in the PHP add on it looks best to ask the question over here.
Anyone know's what I can do to enable the PHP on my webserver ?

Thanks 🙂

Thanks from me also. Had exactly the same problems with my NV+ that Wilco87 had with his duo. How did Netgear not pick up on the PHP problem in their testing?

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

The PHP add-on is a community add-on and thus not supported by NetGear. Because there has been a fair history of firmware updates leading to Frontview access being lost on systems where PHP is installed it is recommended to have SSH installed just in case you need it to fix problems such as this.

I am having the same problem as mentioned above, but cannot access my Duo by SSH because I don't remember ever enabling it. How can I solve it.

Thanks

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

Well guyank couldn't get the Duo unit into tech support mode but the good news is that via a Teamviewer session I determined SSH access was possible on this unit and so the issue is now fixed using the trick to rename the relevant apache config files outlined earlier in the thread.

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

Is there a way to install (or reinstall PHP)addon's directly to the NAS from a PC using SSH? I have ReaadyNASXtras PHP update as a .bin on my PC, no frontview access, full share and SSH access tothe NAS. I could go through the renaming and downreving steps, but I am trying to learn something new (and more elegant). Guess I ought to be able to ftp to the NAS somehow ? Then what do I do with the .bin ?

thanks.

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

SSH into the NAS

copy the add-on into the /tmp directory

Then

# cd /tmp/addons
# mkdir newphp123
# cd newphp123
# dd if=/tmp/phpaddon.bin skip=1 | tar -xv
# sh install.sh

Note the cd command (changes current working directory) is important as the install.sh script will remove the current working directory at the end of the installation.

Re: Duo v1 - Update to 4.1.12 - no access, even not with SSH

sweet. much obliged. I muddled my way through SFTP and got it done. I used PHPMyAdmin as a test and it installed, maybe not perfectly yet, but I got this error on the last line of the install script:

"Your apache2 configuration is broken, so we're not restarting it for you."

anything to be worried about?

Well when you reboot you may find apache doesn't start if the configuration really is bad.
