Hi all,
I have disconnected a USB external disk for few days from my Netgear RN102. Now, when I have reconnected it, the Nas doesn't recognize the disk. The data are safe, if I connect the disk directly to a PC, I see all the folders and files.
There is a way to see the disk from the NAS without erasing it?
Thanks
Marcello

Your logs indicate
volume is dirty and "force" flag is not set
If you hook the external disk up to your PC and repair it you should then be able to connect it to the NAS again.

Re: External Disk not recognized
Hi semola1,
Can you confirm the Firmware of your ReadyNAS system? I would also like to know if you have connected your external USB hard drive in your PC to run disk error-checking tool?
Kind regards,

Re: External Disk not recognized
Hi BrianL,
the firmware in the RN102 is the last published, 6.4.0
I have disconnected the hard disk because I needed to transfer a lot of big folders from My PC and external disk. Using the NAS, it's too slow.
I'haven't changed the structure of disk, except new folders created in the path that already exists.
Thanks

Re: External Disk not recognized
Was the NAS on 6.4.0 before you disconnected the USB disk from it when it was working?
Can you connect the USB disk to your NAS, wait say half a minute or so then download the logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig) and send the logs in please?

Re: External Disk not recognized
I don't remember when I updated the NAS. Probably I detached disk before updating.
I have attached the disk and the only row in the log (cleaned before connecting the disk) is this: System: External storage device connected.
In the System/Overview screen I see only the primary volume.
I also sent the zipped log.
Thanks

Re: External Disk not recognized
Hi semola1,
Try to use Windows Disk error-checking tool and scan if there are errors in your external USB hard drive. I also suggest that you load or install the latest ReadyNAS Beta Firmware available.
Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

Re: External Disk not recognized
Hi BrianL,
before writing to community I have already tested the disk without any error.
I'm perplexed to upgrade my nas to a beta release, because on internal disk I have all my backups.
The beta release is stable? Can I update without problem?
Thanks
