How to make this possible? (Help please)
Hi everyone, first at all i wanna introduce myself 'cause this is the first time I post something on this forum. My name is Carlos and I'm from Madrid and I have a Ready Nas NV+ which is getting me mad and the headeaches appears
I have some questions , because my knowledge using this devices are very very little, so there I go:
My hardware is:
x4 disk WD x 1TB caviar green each one, all them are the same. They work properly.
x1 ReadyNas NV+ , it works too
What i want to do is the following:
To use the first two disk as raid 0 getting just 2 TB, and make into the last two disk the copy of the first two disks, so when the last two are switched off the ReadyNas still works, because i would like to take the last two disk to another place and save it from damages like fire, data lost... or any threat.
What i've do until now is selecting in raidar a initial configuration, after almost one day it's finished, it's shown the IP adress and the capacity. :slap:
If anyone can help me making this possible?
Which configuration must I select?
Any suggestion will help me a lot.
Thank you very much. 🙂

Re: How to make this possible? (Help please)
Removing disks from the NAS for backup isn't recommended here - the connectors in the NAS and the drives are not really suited for repeated insertion.
-Do you have a v1 or v2? The label is confusing please check here: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
-What firmware is running on your NV+
-Are your drives on the HCL for the NAS (http://www.readynas.com/?page_id=82)

Thanks for the reply, it appears the following:
ReadyNas NV+ X-RAID
Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.10 [2.5-3-3-7]
Volume C: Online, X-RAID, 4 disks, 0% used of 2666 GB used
I need the configuration as I wrote yesterday, it's not for me but my boss, he asked me to do this as soon as possible, and i getting mad.
I dont care if the connectors are not suited for this, if it dont work anymore , he will have the blame.
Thank you very much SthepenB 😄

I agree with Stephen. This crazy "backup" (if you could call it that) method is a very bad idea. I recommend you reconsider your backup. Strategy. You should backup to a USB disk, another NAS or some place else.
Do a factory default via System > Update > Factory Default in Frontview. Open RAIDar and during the 10 minute countdown click setup and choose Flex-RAID. You can delete the default volume create and make the ones you want. Have a look at Configuring Your ReadyNAS for Flex-RAID
