ReadyNAS Remote - Please Help
I've made a number of posts but I think I'm in the home stretch (I hope). I'd really appreciate any help others can offer. Here's where I am...
BACKGROUND:
I have a I have a ReadyNAS NV+ (sparc) running RAIDiator 4.1.14 [1.00a043] running user level security. I have users, groups and shares with a defined security model between them that works well. I have CIFS, HTTPS enabled and now also the ReadyNAS Remote service (under Installed Add Ons). I successfully use CIFS for access over the LAN for Mac and Windows clients. I successfully use HTTPS for remote admin access and remote access to shares via the browser or Mac Finder / WebDAV. In the past I used WebDAV for Windows as well (XP) but it no longer works on XP or Windows 7 in spite of following this guidance -> http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24815 and this http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12255. I'm now trying desperately to get ReadyNAS Remote working on at least a Windows 7 client (since I can continue to use WebDav on Mac clients).
THE PROBLEM:
I have the ReadyNAS Remote client installed on a Windows 7 machine.
I created a ReadyNAS Remote account at https://remote.readynas.com/ and can successfully log in and view my profile
I enabled the ReadyNAS Remote service on my NV+ and successfully searched for and found the account referenced just above (the one I created at https://remote.readynas.com/) and added that account as having access to my NAS.
In the ReadyNAS Remote Windows 7 client I supplied the ReadyNAS Remote account login credentials and the client shows it is successfully logged in using those credentials. If I mouse-over the ReadyNAS Remote client icon in the tray the pop up says "ReadyNAS Remote (online) - X" where "X" = the first and last name of the user account I created at https://remote.readynas.com/.
All sounds good so far...
When I double click on the ReadyNAS Remote icon in the system tray a File Explorer windows opens and there is a "ReadyNAS Shares" folder under "Computer" - great! Problem is the folder is EMPTY.
If I right-click on the icon in the system tray and select "Show Device(s)" in the pop-up menu I get a "ReadyNAS Remote" window which is blank except at the top it says "Your Device(s) | 0 online | 0 offline". Where is my NAS and Shares?
I have to believe this is a configuration issue and I'm missing something simple. I've followed all the directions here-> http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20928 in detail multiple times. Why do my shares not show up? Could this be related to my user security model? The instructions say: "You'll see the ReadyNAS entry in your Windows File Explorer" (but I do NOT) and... "Double-clicking on that brings you the familiar share listing that you will see in your LAN. You may be requested to enter the ReadyNAS user name and password to access the shares if they don't have guest access enabled" I see the ReadyNAS Shares folder in my File Explorer but it's empty. There's nothing to click and no opportunity to enter a user ID or password.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
- Charles

Re: ReadyNAS Remote - Please Help
Try to enable FTP access on each share then check if you will be able to see the shares when you access it remotely using ReadyNAS Remote.
