ReadyNas Duo v2 wont power up (5.3.5)
Hello,
I believe that I have found a bug with the latest Radiator 5.3.5, my ReadyNAS Duo 2 wasn't able to power up after I did the following:
1) Go to Settings> Power
2) Enable Power Timer
3) Edit the power timer
4) Insert a new HDD- NTFS partioned
5) Click on the Power Icon> Shut down.
6) Unplug the power supply and reconnect
Results:
The readynas wasn't able to power up.
Symptoms:
1) After unplugging and replugging the power supply, It would turn on the Power button LED for Half a second and then it would shut down.
2) The fan did not spin
3) The Ethernet Orange LED would blink.
4) The Ethernet Green LED would not blink.
4) Pressing or Holding the power button would not do anything.
5) Holding the Reset button and the pressing the power button would not do anything.
Fix:
- Disassemble the unit and remove the battery from the board.
Note: I thought my NAS had the older Radiator version. However, when I was able to power it up, I saw that it was running 5.3.5. I opened this account to ensure this gets fix in the future. My unit is now running after I cleared the CMOS when the battery was removed and reinserted. I also disabled Power Timer.
PS. I am not going to try to replicate this issue, I will leave it for the QA department to do this :) .

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSounds like you've run into a known issue you may still have the old u-boot. Please check the u-boot version (See Duo/NV+ v2 – important u-boot update if using power timer) and if you have an old u-boot, download 5.3.5 (http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_arm_5_3_5_Notes) and do a local update installing it over the top of itself. The u-boot should then be updated.
Welcome to the forum! - xcubeAspirantI am not sure whats happening to my ReadyNas Duo2. But, it stop detecting my volume after I did a shutdown with the scan boot enabled.
It was showing the drive information but it couldn't load volume (c). I tried reinstalling fw 5.3.5 but it still seems to have the same issue. After the upgrade I check Rairar and the status says (even after 24hrs after the update):
Blue bubble (Background task active) and in info: File system check, 100%.
This HDD is a 2tb HDD with only 90gb of free space.
Is there something wrong with the NAS? The HDD was working fine before, and I had the same problem with another HDD of 1tb. I didn't had any problems before. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThis is quite a different issue to the one you described in the first post. With the power timer disabled having the old u-boot wouldn't be a problem. Contact NetGear tech support and post your case number.
- petepewterAspirantSimilar problem. NV+ v2
I've got the power timer set. Sometimes it will shutdown and restart as programmed. Sometimes I can manually restart after an auto shutdown. Other times it doesn't auto start or let me manually restart. If I unplug the mains and reconnect, works fine again. Can't spot a pattern yet.
After reading forum I manually reinstalled Raidar 5.3.5, but I noticed at the time that it was already on the later uboot already.
U-Boot 1.1.4 (Feb 6 2012 - 14:42:36) Marvell version: 3.4.27
Netgear version: Uboot-1_1_4-NetgearNV+V4-V1008
Didn't notice any improvement. Still intermittent at turning on and off and locking up the power button.
what's next to try please? Thanks - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredContact support
- tOmkiAspirantYesterday, I have this same problem (power timer- enabled), but with 5.3.6 firmware version.
Tech support immediately offered a new replacement unit. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSounds like the u-boot probably wasn't updated on your system. When you get the replacement check to make sure the u-boot is updated. If it isn't install 5.3.6 over the top of itself: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_arm_5_3_6_Notes
