Re: Readynas 526x Anivirus scanner definition update failed

One option is ssh into the NAS (as root), and then try running freshclam manually (with no parameters).

You can start by

  1. enabling ssh on system->settings->services in the NAS web ui.  Make sure password authentication is enabled.
  2. enter ssh root@nas-ip-address in the windows search bar (or in terminal on a mac).  You'll get a one-time prompt to accept the fingerprint.
  3. use the NAS admin password when prompted

Then enter freshclam on the command line (with no parameters) and tell us what happens.

Re: Readynas 526x Anivirus scanner definition update failed

It looks like ipv6 is enabled in the NAS (but perhaps not by your ISP).  Do you get the same results if you disable ipv6 in the NAS and try again?

Re: Readynas 526x Anivirus scanner definition update failed

I've never seen that happen.  How did you disable ipv6?

FWIW, zsh is not installed on my NAS.

Ok.  Not sure what caused this then - since I've disabled ipv6 on several NAS, and never saw a change to zsh.  Very strange.

Can you log in when you enter your password?  If you can, then what happens?

If you can, then enter chsh /bin/bash

Maybe try disabling SSH in the web ui, and then reenable it.

If that doesn't work, then I suggest doing an OS reinstall from the front panel (which will reset the admin password back to password).

Re: Readynas 526x Anivirus scanner definition update failed

I think ZHS on you Mac is what's blocking you, not the NAS.  I'm not a Mac user, but the message seems to be pretty clearly telling you you need to update your (Mac) account to use ZHS and that lock symbol is definately not coming from the NAS.

That makes sense, as the info directs to an apple support article.

@pgjscottieuk - this is probably what you need to do:  https://support.apple.com/guide/terminal/change-the-default-shell-trml113/mac

I'm not a mac user, so I don't know what you need to change here to be able to use terminal.

Did it disappear really fast?  Or did it hang around for a bit?

Is the NAS using the same IP?

Re: Readynas 526x Anivirus scanner definition update failed

I think you need to manually delete the old fingerprint on the Windows PC.

Navigate to %homepath%\.ssh (entering that in the windows explorer search bar).  You can either delete the known_hosts file there, or edit it (removing the line that starts with the NAS IP address).

Then run ssh again.
