Readynas X6 led patterns

Greetings, I've got an old Infrant ReadyNAS X6-TL (3.01c1-p6). Upon startup I find that LEDs 1 & 2 will light solid, then go dark alternating with lights 3 & 4. (1 and 2 on/3 and 4 off, 3 and 4 on/1 and 2 off). This pattern continues and the NAS does not become accessible nor visible in RAIDar. Once in this state the power button on the front of the unit cannnot be used to restart the NAS. I must resort to the power switch on the back of the NAS to power down and back on again. After several attempts the NAS ultimately boots cleanly. Any suggestions as to what the issue may be? I recently performed a factory reset and this issue still persists.

    What firmware are you running?

Do you have a backup? Presumably yes if you've recent reset it.
    > Yes, I have a backup
You could run a memory test via the boot menu.
    > As described in the LED Language document you provided I held the power switch for 25 seconds and after the 5th "all disk LED blink" I let go of the switch. Disk LED lights 1-4 illuminated individually while the power LED fast blinked. At present all 4 disk LEDs are illuminated solid while the power LED continues to fast blink. The NAS however is not located with a RAIDar scan and is inaccessible.
  • Well if you look at the led pattern guide link that led pattern means the memory test completed without error and you should press the power button to reboot.
That firmware is extremely old. Are you sure that is the firmware currently installed? Where did you find the firmware version? What is displayed in the right hand column in raidar when it finds the nas?
Ideally you should backup your data, update the firmware and then factory default and restore from backup.
As you already have backup, then this is what I'd suggest.
  • Thank you vandermerwe, firmware update seems to have resolved my issue.

3.01c1-p6 was released just under 8 years ago. You will find a lot has changed since then.
