Reduced speed after a couple of days

I have problems with the network speed of my ReadyNAS Ultra. Copying to the NAS or reading from it will get slower and slower after some time. Then it looks like this ...



After a restart of the NAS, the speed is as expected again.



What can I do to preserve the speed without restarting the device so often?

Do you have ssh access? If so, you could take a look at what was running (cpu and memory usage).

top is good, as it will give you a updating list of processes that includes CPU and memory use for each.

q is the way to quit it

By default it sorts the list by CPU% . If you enter > while it is running, it will shift the sort to the next column (which is memory %) You want to look at both. Entering < shifts the sort back to the left to CPU
