Replacing Hard Drives RN102 - Raid 0

If I'm replacing the hard drives in a Raid 0 configuration (upgrading from 2x2 to 2x8), does it require that I factory reset the NAS?  I can't remember if I can just replace the drive and then go to the admin page and format them.

Thanks,

Re: Replacing Hard Drives RN102 - Raid 0

If RAID-0 spans both disks, you might as well do the reset (since you need to get the OS on the new disks).

If you weren't spanning both disks, you could

  • destroy a volume
  • replace the disk
  • create a new volume

If apps were installed on the volume, you'd need to uninstall the apps before destroying the volume.
