Restore default factory

Hello! I want to reset to factory my ReadyNas 104, but I don´t want loss my data. I have 3 disk, 9TB in JOBD.

If I disconnect the three disks and do a factory reset, when I reconnect them I will have the data intact? or it will detect them as a new volume losing all the data.

Thank you

Re: Restore default factory

Hi @Marc_V,

Finally, I had to save all the information and reset to default factory values. Now it works perfectly again. Thank you very much anyway

Re: Restore default factory

The whole purpose of a factory reset is to wipe all data, settings, everything. Trying to do a factory reset with the disks removed will achieve nothing.

Why do you want to reset things back to factory default?

Re: Restore default factory

it does not show the applications and if I try to install one manually it gives me an error. There is a problem with the software.

Re: Restore default factory

Have you tried a different web browser?

Have you downloaded the logs zip and checked the logs for clues (you can send the logs in if you like, see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: Restore default factory

Yes, mozilla, chrome and iexplorer...

I erased the logs 😞

I have read about reinstall OS

https://kb.netgear.com/22891/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-104-204-214-or-314

Can this solve my problems without losing the data?

Re: Restore default factory

The logs zip would still contain relevant logs. Some of the logs are generated on demand and others even if they were "erased" would quickly be repopulated with info useful for troubleshooting. It would still be worth looking at those.

Depending on what the problem is an OS Re-install might help. It leaves your data intact.

Re: Restore default factory

I have reinstalled the OS and the applications still do not show.

I sent you the logs.
Thanks in advance

Re: Restore default factory

You should check your network settings, especially DNS addresses. The system can't resolve the address to download some package updates.

Re: Restore default factory

These are the DNS addresses that my ISP offers me. The firmware is updated automatically without problems. I have added 8.8.8.8

Re: Restore default factory

I still have the same problem.

The available applications do not show up and it does not allow me to install them manually either.

If I click on update firmware, it tells me that it is updated and if instead of stable version I ask for beta version, it finds version 6.9.4-T58. I understand that the network configuration is correct.

Re: Restore default factory

Hi @xuco80

Welcome to the Community!

What Apps are you trying to install? IS your NAS already on BETA firmware? 3rd Party Apps might not have support for the latest Beta or official version that might be also the cause for the app not to install/work.

You may want to check your logs under systemd-journal.log and go to the timeline where you tried to install the App. Try to check volume.log as well and see if your OS(md0) is full.

Regards

Re: Restore default factory

Hello @Marc_VMarc_V

Thank you very much for answering.

I really want to install plex but when I go to the section of available applications, they appear blank and I can not install any other. I can not install any.

The log I sent it to @mdgm-ntgr

The current firmware is 6.9.3 Stable version

Re: Restore default factory

Hi @xuco80

Unfortunately  mdgm is not with NETGEAR anymore, It would be good if he had taken a look on your logs.

I would advise contacting NETGEAR Support so experts can get this escalated and fixed.

Have you tried installing other apps from apps.readynas.com?
