RN312 on 6.2.4 said degraded disk 1 failed.
Have taken out the disk but hours later it has not recognised that the disk has been removed - is this a frame failure?

How many disks are inserted?
What's the RAID level?
Are you able to access the shares and admin page after removing the disk?

There were two disks and system still working on remaining disk with mirror data. Admin page still working.
however it says first disk is in place except failed and temperature -1 even though the disk was removed 24 hours ago.
just not sure if turning off will destroy data on remaining disk or fix the problem.
I think I am now sorted - system is not as "Hot Swap" as I thought.
I had to reboot to get it to recognise that a failed disk was removed and reboot it again to recognise I had relaced it with a new disk.
After this it rebuilt its redundancy so up and running properly again.
Now I just have to find out what is wrong with the 6 week old Seagate 3TB disk that seems to have failed.
Failing disks can lock up the SATA interface, and a reboot is sometimes needed to clear that.

You may try using diagnostic tools to check the failed disk.
