Smb 0x2E bad byte count 16578
Hi
I've been using and Iphone app, Stratospherix filebrowser, on an old netgear nas duo, with no problem to access fileshares and vidoes.
I've upgraded to a newer netgear 314 and i get the error below when I try to attach
Smb 0x2E bad byte count 16578.
I've tried adding the nas as
1) a nas
With and without compatibility mode
2) a pc
With and without compatibility mode
I've also tried other smb modes on the nas side (smb 3, 2.1 and 2)
Nothing shows up in the nmb log. The smb log gives this on mp3 opens "./source3/smbd/dir.c:282(dptr_close)
Invalid key 256 given to dptr_close" . I get no details in the log when I try documents, I jsut get the smb error in the program.
I log in as myself and my permissions are 775.
My shares are smb only
Every thing else works (I can use plex to access music and video from the same shares)
Any ideas?

I'm getting the same thing!
RN314 with OS6 6.2.1.
Mac with Yosemite can access the shares with no issues using SMB.

Re: Smb 0x2E bad byte count 16578
I fixed it.. ( I posted a reply earlier but it mustn't of uploaded)
in /etc/samba/smb.conf
I commented out
dos charset = CP1252
unix charset = UTF-8
in /etc/frontview/samba/smb.conf.defaults
I added
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=65536 SO_SNDBUF=65536
And then rebooted, and all good now.
I did reverse the changes (one at a time, rebooting each time) to see which one was the culprit, but it keeps working no matter what I do ( was happening for 3 weeks before I posted this)

Unfortunately, this fix doesn't seem to work for me. I get the same error from FileBrowser. I made the changes to the two files and rebooted (even updated to 6.2.2) all times checking to make certain the files weren't over-written and I get the same error. :x

Re: Smb 0x2E bad byte count 16578
I got this out of Stratospherix
There is a bug in the NetGear ReadyNAS 6.2.0 firmware that returns a malformed packet to FileBrowser. We have already fixed this in version 5.7 of FileBrowser but unfortunately Apple rejected our update due to an iCloud issue. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience. We will be updating FileBrowser as soon as we can.
