Unable to access frontview
Hi All,
After some power problems my ReadyNAS PRO didn’t want to boot and I couldn’t access the boot menu.
So after some fault finding and forum reading I ended up doing a USB recovery and then I could access the boot menu to do a factory default.
But now the frontview shows up without any images or text so I’m unable to set anything up.
Any suggestion for my next steps?
ReadyNAS PRO 6 out of warranty (about 6 years old), windows 7 with putty (but ssh is disable with factory default), unit is only used as a backup to a 516

Re: Unable to access frontview
This is a known possible side effect of USB Boot Recovery. Sent you a PM.

Re: Unable to access frontview
Should be fixed now.
The EEPROM was corrupted by the USB Boot Recovery.

Re: Unable to access frontview
hey mdgm..
as of yesterday one of my macs (iMac27")
has done he same thing with the empty FrontView window..
MB AIR is ok.
The problem is when i want to log in with Safari..
on the iMac
Doesn't happen when i log in with Google Chrome,
except there is a big security warning it says,
but i ok it and it goes through to the normal FrontView window all ok.
i tried with FireFox, and the security didn't let me through at all..
can you help me get the login with Safari going from the Imac27".
BTW, i just updated the OS from 10.68 to 10.10.2...
all the best, tony

Re: Unable to access frontview
Sounds like a different issue. Try clearing your web browser cache, closing your web browser then reopening it again.

Re: Unable to access frontview
OK, I'm back.
We had more power outages again (thank you energex) and the Pro6 has stop booting at the ReadyNAS logo again and once again I can't get the boot menu or front view.
Before I go and do a USB re-install is there anything I should try first?
Also I was running the OS6 (6.2.3-T1751) happily till the power outages, so I would like to USB install to OS6 if that is possible.
I have a small UPS on order and once/if I get it back up I'll wait till the UPS arrives to leave it running this time.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Unable to access frontview
Can you get to the boot menu if you power down and remove your disks and then try to access the boot menu?

Re: Unable to access frontview
Perhaps the internal flash is failing.
Does the power LED come on solid?
You could try USB Boot Recovery once more, I guess.
When you can't access the boot menu there's not much you can do. Would be advisable to run the memory test at some point if you get the boot menu back to see if there is a memory issue.
