Can't be done if you can't access the admin page.
@nick-j: More importantly, you can not update directly from 6.2.4 to 6.10.8. Note the instructions in the 6.10.8 KB article here: https://kb.netgear.com/000065170/ReadyNAS-OS-6-Software-Version-6-10-8
- ReadyNAS 102, 104, and 2120 systems must not be updated directly to 6.10.x from 6.3.x or older firmware. They must first be updated to either 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 then to 6.5.2 and then to 6.10.x.
When you tried to upgrade it before, did you try to install 6.10.8?

Sounds like a failed VPD. Netgear mods can usually fix that remotely.
The mods who have generally fixed this for users in the past are no longer at Netgear (their status in the forum says "retired). I'm tagging @NiveditaP who might be able/willing to fix this for you as a courtesy.

Hello @nick-j,
Your NAS is running on very degraded firmware version. We suggest you to upgrade the firmware version of your NAS to 6.10.8.
Please find the steps for upgrading or downgrading the Firmware :
1.Download the required firmware image from google browser compatible to your ReadyNAS model.
2.Open the NAS admin UI
3.Navigate to system >> settings >> update
4.Click on Install firmware >> browse the downloaded firmware
5.Click on upload.
Have a lovely day,
Nivedita Pa

Re: cant access the admin page RN2120v2 also serial number now N0NE000200000 please help!
Native OS6 units, at least AFAIK, do not rely on a VPD file for serial number data. I've never had access to a 2120, but I've had many other models pass through my hands, and they have no VPD. I actually do not know how ARM units communicate the model number and serial number to the OS. UBoot maybe. But the model number is right, so this may be just a matter of the OS not properly reading the serial number or not even getting to the point it does.
Does it display the same with no drives installed? If not, then an OS re-install may help.
