It's a dead simple NAS offering basic services, prefectly sufficient for SMB, FTP, and NFS (bringing things to a higher complexity level already for the reason how NFS works). Rock solid systems for many years of usage.
Of coure you can head for a complete data center in a box (as what QNAP or Synology are offering) - the complexity level goes up massively. And yes, I love my QNAPs as well as the RNs!
