[solved] Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
Hello together,
I set up a ReadyNAS Duo with one WD20EURS.
After Installation I tried to configure the NAS, but the only thing I get is an empty screen.
I tried with FF 8 and IE 6 to 9.
Logfiles are saved, but upload seems to be not possible in this forum.
Any ideas?
Greetings
Claus

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
Did you get any error messages?
When attempting to connect for the first time, you should have gotten a warning from the Windows firewall, and you would have an option to create an exception.
Is the IP address shown in RAIDar one that is reasonable for your network?
For some reason Frontview is not loading any information.
You can try a direct connection. RAIDar will still discover the Duo and should show the IP address on it as 192.168.168.168. To connect, you will need to reset you PC's IP to any IP address in the 192.168.168 subnet except 168. Most set it to 192.168.168.169. This removes all the network devices that may be interfering such as the router and switches.

You can try a direct connection.
Same result.

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
The WD20EURS is not on the compatibility list (http://www.readynas.com/hcl) so there may be a compatibility issue.
Is your disk a brand new disk? Did you use it at all before putting it in the ReadyNAS?
Seeing that it's a new setup, if you do a factory reset (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) and clear your web browser cache (i.e. Temporary Internet Files in Internet Explorer) does this make a difference?

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
The WD20EURS is on the list - at position #8 for the ReadyNAS Duo v2.
I deleted all partitions before mounting the disk in the NAS and made a factory reset.
At last I also cleared the browser cache.
No difference - imho its a problem of loading and/or parsing the dialog.xml
Greetings
Claus

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
You have the Duo (v1) not the Duo v2. The Duo v2 is a very different device on a different platform. Compatibility with Duo v2 gives no indication as to compatibility with the Duo.
Please try a disk from the compatibility list.

Hmm,
on the bottom of the device is a sticker with
NETGEAR ReadyNAS Duo RND2000 v2
Are You really shure with v1?

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
Yes. If it was the Duo v2 it would say "ReadyNAS Duo v2" not "ReadyNAS Duo" as the model in RAIDar. Also RAIDiator 4.1.7 (Info - far right - column in RAIDar) is firmware for the Duo v1 not the Duo v2.
RAIDiator 5.3.1 is the first firmware for the Duo v2. There is no RAIDiator 5 firmware for the Duo (v1) and there won't be.
That v2 sticker was added to indicate a Duo (v1) with some minor changes to distinguish it from earlier Duo (v1) units.
I am 100% sure you have the v1.

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
Okay - but that means a bit of work.
I have access to a compatible disc - a WD10EACS.
Unfortunately it is part of a raid-5.
In this moment the disc is marked as faulty and mdadm is recovering the raid with the WD20EURS.
When this is finished, I make a try with the WD10EACS.
Thanks so far
Claus

Re: Duo: Frontview[] with ReadyNAS null
Fine - Duo is up and running with the WD10EACS.
Actually I play a little with the ssh-access to look whats happening inside when managing the device via the Web-GUI.
Thanks for the support
