EX7700 connection problems
Every now and then, my EX7700 loses the connection to my R7000 router (router connection LED vanishes). This is not the main problem. The problem is, that the extender does not try to re-establish the connection again after it loses it. I have to restart the extender for it to re-establish the connection again. This is inacceptable. Please support.

Seen lots of inquiries on this very topic, yet NO solutions. Been fighting same issue over a week now, since I bought the damn thing. I see that R7000 recognizes the EX7700 as an "Attached Device" yet EVERY device connected to the EX7700 has NO INTERNET and cannot reach the R7000 control portal. Hell they can't even reach the EX7700 portal and they are wire connected RIGHT TO THE DAMN THING!!! It seems like the R7000 is rejecting ANY traffic comming from EX7700. I havent tried AP mode on it cause I wanted AN EXTENDER. I already had a WNR2000v3_N300 Router/AP connected if I wanted to go that route. But was hoping to eliminate it for a single point connection with greater range. Looks like I may have bought a bill of goods which is FAKE by purchasing the EX7700.
So frustrating and I do not consider myself a novice user having developed WiFi for medical, defense, and commercial devices for over 20 years now!! I dropped D-Link, Linksys, ASUS because they all started dropping in interconnectivity of their products as well as the quality & service for them. Has Netgear taken the same road?

Hello Khilkani & GrandOak01,
We currently have a trial firmware available for the EX7700 that may help resolve your issue. Please send me a message if you're interested.

- Johnnyg30AspirantSame problem with EX7700 dropping connection with R7000 and not reestablishing. Both firmware’s up to date. I have tried rolling back R7000 firmware to previous version but same issue. Assume if we cannot get a fix then can seek money back as only bought recently.

I also returned the EX7700. This thing has to solve problems, not create problems.
Same here, also the R7000 itself has to be rebooted when the Ex7700 gives up, usually after 1 day. Tried positioning, updated firmware, managed channels, etc. Also when I call support I need to give the serial number by voice and that doesn't work because it doesn't recognize the letters well and I have to start over. Gave up after 35 mins. And online I get this message.
Bad product, no support.

Totally agree and sympathise with all dissatisfied customer on the thread. Exactly right - this product does not solve problems it just creates new ones.
This product has caused me nothing but pain and stress since I bought it a year ago. I bought it because I need an extender. In extender mode I experience constant dropouts - the number of times I have been cut off during important customer conference calls is a source of utter embarrassment. A couple of months ago I gave up on the devil's device and switched it to AP mode which I must admit was a lot more stable but it not what I needed (I need an extender). A couple of days ago I switched it back to extender mode in the belief that the firmware would have been fixed by now and the product would be stable and functional, but no, even with the latest and greatest firmware I am now experiencing the exact same problems as before.

Was having issues connecting devices to my extender (EX7700). Removed the smart connect and was able to connect devices and ge them working. Then the extender quit working again. My Amazon Echo Show has a netgear page asking for password and user ID. I haven't added any info yet, but curious if the extender is pushing information like this out publicly.
Also, really dissappointed with EX7700 thus far, but will contact support this evening to see if there is any updates I can get to update firmware.
Something is up with the EX7700 and the R7000 combi, and Netgear is not dealing with it. I sent back the EX7700 and then bought the Orbi's (and I have to say, they work wonderfully).
- EWells006AspirantAfter updating firmware, and removing smart connect, extenders have been working well. Have some issues with connecting and/or performance lag, but typically rights itself quickly, without me having to do anything. Good for a couple months now.

Since I've replaced my previous Router with the R70o0P and added the EX7700 extender I'm only having problems. Both have the latest frimware
Just like other users my mobile devices that are connected to the ex7700 are losing internet connection all the time. I have the impression it the EX7700 and R7000P don't get along together. I'll explain why
The 2.4 ghz is working perfectly, but for the 5Ghz the EX7700 connects to my other extender, which is a Fritz-extender located in my work-office. This extender is on channel 128, The R7700P is on channel 112. The Fritz-extender is located far away from the EX7700 and is having the weakest signal, nevertheless the EX7700 does not want to connect over 5Ghz to the R7000P. When I disable the other Fritz-extender in my work-office and do a new smart setup on the EX7700 it won't connect to the R7000P. When I replace the R7000P with my old router (Fritz box) the EX7700 does connect to the 5Ghz channel of the old router. So it must have something to do with the combination of the R7000P and EX7700
After using it for six months I simply want to get rid of these problems. I was hoping of having purchased the best router and best extender, howver it looks I have made the wrong choice and must accept my loss. Or can anyone at Netgear help- GrrregTutorI am also having issues. The ex7700 drops connection to the router. The router is still working fine when this happens. The light had changed from white, then goes off when it drops. When it came back on it was orange and now red, though I haven't moved the ex7700. If I move it any closer to the router there is no point having it as an extender. It also seems to be causing issues with two of my sonos speakers which constantly drop out. Have spoken to the online chat for two hours today and they said they would email me, but haven't. They are unable to fix it.

In the same boat here... Usually around midnight it drops signal, i have to go to my main router (Nighthawk X4S C7800) and restart that, then my Extender wont connect so i havr to set up as a new device only to have it tell me my password for my router is incorrect. Going to return this P.O.S.

5G connection from router to extender keeps dropping
I have no issue with the 2G one,
The 5G keeps dropping and doesn t come back, only with a reboot from the extender.I tried each version of the firmware down to 188, but issue persists.
I'm not using smart connect,
Also, the extender keeps advising to use a band between 100 and 165GHz for the 5G while I'm using 136GHz...
Please help!
Thanks
Michael
- SonjireAspirantHello. I bought the Ex7700 last week. Actually I have a lot of disconnections. At a bout every half an hour for 5 Minutes. I already tried everything but nothing helps. The Extender is connected to my r7000 router. Is there already a solution for this Problems?
Thanks! No, it's shocking. I got rid of mine and went for a Ubiquity UDM and a couple of access points, not looked back.
- CraphawkX6AspirantThe 7700 is a POS. I have paid a pretty penny for this and it doesn’t work as per all the comments in this thread. Netgear has no intention of fixing this, so you will be stuck with this frustratingly non functional white elephant. Shame on you Netgear. I will take my business elsewhere.

Virgin Media Hub 3 (In Modem mode) - R8000 Router - EX7700 Extender
Reading through the 50 or so postings on this thread I am so disappointed with Netgear for allowing the state of affairs to continue for two years without resolution.
I (foolishly) have been throwing money at the problem, replacing old kit with new under the misapprehension that was the probable root cause. Most recently I have bought a new Printer Epson WF-7210 and that is the final straw for me as it connects to the Extender most of the time and whilst connected is a great replacement for my aging Brother Printer/Scanner but I am still getting the same issues with the extender seemingly ignoring devices that hibernate and not reconnecting. Enough is enough, I am now going to explore alternative brands after exausting my loyalty to Netgear
Yours sicnerely

Hello,
I bought the EX7700 Nighthawk hardware (rather Nightmare than Nighthawk !)
I had the problem described in this incident (which, moreover, happened very quickly every night).
I ended up returning the material and bought a Xiaomi AX1800 (white model for Europe) which works great. I use it in repeater mode (it can do wifi router), and it offers 3 Giga Ethernet ports instead of 2 on Netgear. The only problem I have is that I can't put fixed IP address (in repeater mode only) and I have to set it in DHCP server.
And what's more, really cheap.
