I want to disable the EX7000's allocation of virtual MAC addresses to devices on my network but I cannot find anywhere how do do this. I am coming to the conclusion that it is not possible. The virtual MAC addresses are causing me problems. I have a DHCP server on my network. The DHCP server allocates reserved IP addresses to devices on my network. Some devices are wired, some are Wifi. I bought the EX7000 to extend the range of my wifi network. The problem is that when a device moves from the existing wifi network to the EX7000's extended wifi network then the MAC address changes to the virtual MAC address. The DHCP server CANNOT allocate/reserve a single IP address to multiple MAC addresses. Therefore the devices cannot keep the same DHCP-allocated IP address when moving across wifi networks. This is extremely frustrating. Why do we have to use virtual MAC addresses anyway? I could manually set a static IP address on each device on the two saved wifi networks - but this defeats the purpose of having the DHCP server in the first place. Is there a way to turn off the EX7000's Virtual MAC address feature or some other way to configure the above network so that devices can move between the wifi and extended-wifi networks whilst keeping their unique DHCP-allocated IP address?16KViews4likes11CommentsVPN Setup on Netgear Router - HELP
I would like to setup a VPN connection through PIA on my Netgear router (Model listed as C7000-100NAS), but I think it's the same or a version of the AC1900 Netgear Nighthawk. All the documents I see, instruct you to go to onto the Netgear Genie console and enable the VPN connection under Advanced, Advanced Settings, VPN. I don't have a VPN option under advanced settings. I bought the router from Amazon, so not through ISP (which is TWC), but not sure if they can disable features or something. Very confused. Have anyone else come across this?30KViews4likes16CommentsNighthawk C7000 Cannot change time
I have the Netgear Nighthawk Model No. C7000 and the time is showing as 1 hour early. How do I change the time to the correct time? There is no option to change the time in Advanced -> Security -> Schedule (some people have said there is a time zone option there, but there is not).10KViews2likes6CommentsNighthawk 7000 enable https / ssl login for internal administration
Dear Community, I want to change the browser administration page from http to https (port 443). The only thing I found ist the possibility to open https for external administration. I want to prevent sending the admin password for the router in plain text within my home network. Is there a possibility to configure https for administration? If there is no secure way for router configuration using wlan how do u configure it in a secure way (using cable direct attached to router)? Hi everyone, I just bought Netgear modem/router Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 100Nas. I was using it as a router, but it conflicted with my other router (NAT), a Linksys. I changed the mode from Router to Bridge, but now I cannot get inside Nighthawk anymore (192.168.0.1). Is there anyway I can get inside? How about reverting the mode from bridge to router? I found a solution on how to keep Netgear as a router with no NAT conflicting issues with linksys router and I would like to try that, but can't, unless I change mode from bridge to Router again. I hope the solution bridge to router is not RESET as I will lose ISP activation (TWC) and have to do it again. Thanks a lot for helping.9.5KViews1like1CommentAssign static IP address to printer
I am trying to assign a staic IP address to my network printer. When I go to Avanced/Setup/LAN setup and see the Address reservation table, I find my printer and click on its radio button and click on ADD. I get the message: The IP address should be within the DHCP range. But, it is well within the range. How do I get around this? I have the R7000 with a Seagate STBV4000100 4TB USB 3.0 drive connected. I can connect to it just fine, drive shares work etc. From a WIN 7 64bit OS system using windows explorer I can create folders, files etc. Problem is, on occasion when I try to delete some files or folders I get the following message; "You need permission to perform this action You require permission from Unix User\nobody to make changes to this folder" It would seem I'm not able to change the permissions from windows explorer either. Would anyone know how I can change the permissions so I can delete from windows explorer? One thing of note. When I copied the folders/files to the NAS drive from the windows system, some of the files were marked as read only. Not sure if this is part of the issue, but either way. How can I set the permissions to something so I can delete them from windows? NOTE: If I disconnect the drive from the router and connect it directly to the PC... it works fine. As router and PC are not on same floor, this is not practical and defeats the purpose. Suggestions welcome!Solved72KViews1like80CommentsGuest Network on WNR2000
hi, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SETUP: We have a WNR2000v2 router. We use it as a simple WIFI gateway. It is not our main router to Internet. FYI Our main router to Internet is a Linksys RV042. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NEED: The WNR2000 has a GUEST NETWORK feature we would like to use. So that our customers could access the internet without accessing our network. For now, because I unchecked "Allow guest to access My Local Network" it does not access anything at all. Most probably because the WNR2000 is not managing the internet connection, so it considers the RV042 to be within the network (connected on LAN port). What are my options? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ thanks!
