RBKE963: Phone randomly switches from nearby satellite to router with weaker signal
Hi all, I recently upgraded my mesh system from the Netgear Orbi RBK752 to the Netgear Orbi RBKE963. My previous RBK752 was working great, but I decided to upgrade because I currently have around 45 connected devices, and I understand that the RBKE963 can handle significantly more devices. I configured the new system exactly as I had the previous Orbi, and everything has been working fine overall. However, twice in the last four days, my phone has suddenly disconnected from the nearby satellite and switched to the main router, even though the router has a much weaker signal. I immediately checked the satellite, and it did not appear to be restarting. Its LED was off, and I also have a PS5 and a computer connected to this satellite via Ethernet. Both wired devices continued working normally when the issue occurred. Since the RBKE963 uses an additional 6 GHz band, I'm wondering if there are any specific settings or configuration options I should be aware of. Another thing worth mentioning is that my system came with a 30-day trial of Netgear Armor. I've read that it can consume system resources and potentially cause software instability. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to disable it, so I'm waiting for the trial to expire to see whether that makes any difference. The system is running the latest firmware available to me, version 7.2.8.8. Finally, I purchased the system refurbished on eBay. Could this behavior indicate a hardware defect, or is it more likely to be related to roaming behavior, firmware, or configuration? Has anyone experienced something similar with the RBKE963? I'd appreciate any suggestions or troubleshooting tips. Thanks in advance!960 Wreaking Havoc
I am on Firmware Version V7.2.8.8_5.1.24. 1 Main router with 2 satellites hardwired. The ORBI router was intercepting all DNS traffic which frequently lead to unresolved DNS names and DNS timeouts. I had Netgear Armor and Parental Controls enabled. I reduced all controls to minimum so nobody had any filters, and the still, DNS was failing to respond in a timely fashion. This meant web pages would display errors after minutes waiting for the timeout, my kids games couldn't connect to server endpoints. Not all websites and games were affected, but probably 60%. My personal computer had similar issues and I have no parental controls enabled. To fix this issue, I had to toggle off cart blanc in it's entirety the Netgear Armor and Netgear Parental controls in the settings.RBR750 Wi-Fi intermittently goes out, wired connection is fine
Currently running the latest firmware per the Orbi app (v7.2.715). The wifi network from my Orbi router will go out for 30 mins to several hours a couple times a week. This started happening a couple months ago after flawless connectivity for almost two years. I have AT&T fiber, and the gateway shows an internet connection during these outages. The settings on my fiber modem/gateway have not changed since I started using my Orbi , and my Philips Hue bridge, which is connected to my Orbi router via ethernet, works fine during these wifi outages. Any ideas on what could be the problem? The connection resolves itself most of the time, but I've had to occasionally power cycle the router when I don't feel like waiting.RBR860 2.4 GHz channel Stopped Working
A few days ago, All three routers started showing a solid Magenta light. I rebooted several times and now all three show no light other than the green LED light on the back. More importantly, since then it has stopped brodcasting on the 2.4 GHz band. In the app, under Advanced setup, it does show that bans as being enabled. I am perplexed. Any ideas?Orbi 860 mesh with 3 satellites devices failing to reconnect after router reboot.
I have a lot of Shelly devices about 90 odd. All smart home devices are connected to the LoT wifi, all have DHCP reserved addresses, had to do a reboot of the router after adding a reserved address to the DHCP list, the router came back up, 3 of the 4 satellites reconnected albeit they took a while, the 4th would not connect, ended up having to power cycle that unit. Found 70% of smart devices would not reconnect, even iPhone and MacBook were connecting to main wifi the disconnected the connected and then disconnected again, took a long time to stabilise, only way I could get the Shelly devices connected again was to disable the LoT wifi for 5min the enable it again then the started reconnecting. Just power cycling Shelly devices was not enough. Very frustrating. Any ideas on why this could be happening. Just bought this orbi system and already regretting it.Orbi960 Frequent Internet Disconnection
Hello All, I have been using Orbi960 since 2 years without any problem and works like a charm. From 23 May 2025, I am facing frequent internet disconnection, Internet disconnects very 5 to 10 min and then comes back. My Setup. 1 RBRE960 connected to ISP modem (1 Gbps speed) (placed in living room) 1 RBSE960 connected to RBRE960 Wired Backhaul (placed in bedroom) The backhaul connection status shows good The devices connected to RBRE960 in the living room get good internet connection and never drops out and works fine. However all the devices connected to the RBSE960 place in the bedroom frequently gets disconnected and drops internet connection. When i move my cellphone from bedroom to living room it gets connected to the RBRE and works well. I thought it might be some problem with the RBSE960 and i swapped wit with my second spare RBSE960 (wire backhaul) but the problem persisted. I changed the backhaul network cable, still did not resolve the issue. Rebooting the system solves the problem temporarily, but surfaced 30 min later. I am stuck now dunno what to do. I believe the recent firmware update is causing the issue, not sure. 4 years back had the same issue with RBK50, worked well for 2 years, then same problems started and replaced with RBK960. Looks like some inherent problem with Orbi systems, Any support i this regards is much appreciated Sujay
