I have an R7500 Nighthawk router that works beautifully. But one feature I miss is the ability to block individual devices based on a time schedule. There is a feature to block ALL devices on a time schedule, but not individual devices. Please consider adding that feature. For example, I want to block my 2 kids Ipods between 9pm and 7am on school nights, and 10pm and 7am on weekends, and allow all other devices. Unless I'm missing something, this is not currently possible460KViews71likes55CommentsUpdate/Refresh Netgear Genie Program
PLEASE update the Genie program. It is so slow, clunky, outdated, and ugly. It's really pathetic, especially in the vain of more expensive hardware. The user experience does not match the price. It's like buying a Mercedes but the seats are made of cheap cloth. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line product, I expect the software to be excellent. Other companies have much better software. Catch up.223KViews37likes21CommentsOpenVPN No server certificate verification method has been enabled.
Hi, I'm using a R7000 running V1.0.9.28_10.2.32. I just enabled VPN and tried to connect via a Windows 10 OpenVPN client but get the following errors in the VPN Windows Log I removed the normal messages at the start of the log but can provide them if required. I use a static IP provided by my ISP so don't need to provide a a Dynamic DNS setting. I've modified the client1 config accordingly with my external static IP. Looks to me as though the internal Netgear VPN Server's cert is somehow incorrect! Any ideas?Solved218KViews0likes7CommentsTop NETGEAR FAQs - Support and End of Service

Disabled SMBv1 protocol on win 10, as has been recommended since recent ransomware attacks. Running V1.0.9.6_1.2.19 firmware on Netgear R7000. Readyshare is not available without SMBv1. My question is, can firmware fix this problem, either a Netgear update or a change to ddwrt or tomato firmware? Or is this impossible with the hardware available in the router?Solved125KViews2likes5CommentsR8000 Firmware
Per NetGear social media, we are supposed to suggest the below idea here. My idea, as crazy as it sounds, is that Netgear continue to support their R8000 devices. I know, sounds insane but hear me out. People spent hundreds of dollars on a product featuring the "latest tri-band wifi" technology. Now instead of leaving them hanging with a big security exploit for two months, device issues and a feature release stall, Netgear should develop a new robust firmware. Ideally it would be one that wouldn't encourage them to go out and try questionable 3rd party firmwares. That means, it should be competitive (feature wise) with those 3rd parties while fixing ongoing issues highlighted in the forums. Benefits: 1. Happy customers who don't feel like they wasted money and are not stranded with a reletively up to date tech, that lacks manufacture support, features and security. 2. See #1 above. I think it deserves reiteration. Facts 1. product saw less than 18 months of firmware releases and developer support. 2. Nearly 9 months have past since the last firmware update (as of 8/31/2016). 3. June 2016: security notice suggested disabling of features due to security exploit. 4. 2 month later, June 2016 security exploit is still unpatched, leaving customers exposed. 5. There are no Nighthawk products listed on the NetGear EoL page, including the R8000. 6. The product is still available through online and big-box retailers.125KViews7likes14CommentsInternet through modem works, but not through router
Greetings, I do not have the disc that came with this router; I recently moved into a new apartment and got internet set up with Time warner. When my ethernet cable is pluged into the modem from my PC, I can get internet just fine; but when I connect to the router (the ethernet cables are connected to the right ports, the cable from the modem goes into the yellow port on the modem and the PC is plugged into one of the lan ports), windows says it needs to find drivers and cannot install the drivers because I do not have the disc. I tried using setup wizard by logging into my router at routerlogin.com (or net?) but it still cannot detect an internet connection. I also tried updating my firmware version but I think the problem is having drivers for the router on my computer. I have browsed netgear's site and could only find firmware updates, does anyone know where I can get drivers for my router?114KViews0likes5CommentsNETGEAR Genie The NETGEAR A6210 is not found?
Hi, I recently purchased a NETGEAR A6210 AC1200 High Gain Wireless USB Adapter, the main issue is that when I tried to install NETGEAR Software "Genie" which it suppose to like update the USB WiFi Adapter's Firmware and manange drivers update, but the main problem is it's not being detected or message says "The Netgear A6210 Adapter is not found" I have Windows 10 Pro x64 with latest updates and service packs. The wireless is working fine, but when I check the Task Manager>Performance>Wi-Fi, the wifi mode is 802.11n instead of AC, so i figured this might be a firmware issue, and i need to update my USB wifi adapter's firmware, but i can install genie, if any of you folks have solution for this or the NETGEAR community, please I need answers, or else will be return to the store.Solved94KViews0likes25CommentsHow to Downgrade Firmware on Nighthawk R7000 router?
This is a question which I think should be in FAQ's and if it is I apologize. Also a person who know about computers but needs a little more definition in wording which I think would help many and if it has been explained before sorry. Currently using the newest version of Firmware 1.0.6.28, Windows 7 HP SP1 64bit. Since there has been many problems with the Latest firmware ver. 1.0.6.28. 1. Could anyone please list step by step how to downgrade to a previous better ver. or the Beta I have been seeing. 2. Also, I have seen reset to factory or just reset or hard reset. Explain the difference. (Is a reset just using paper clip and pressing till all light go out then release? Is that correct just for resetting the settings and not reverting back to when you pulled it from the box? Is this what people are saying to do after flashing the older firmware to clear settings?) I think that this would be helpful to many people and should be written by Netgear. I just don't need to brick it right now. I was just going to download and go into Advanced settings and upload that manually. Wasn't sure if I needed to restore to factory first which I didn't think I needed to and after it reboots on it own what people were saying about resetting it after it was finished. ( Because to me that sounded like after downgrading the firmware resetting would bring back to original firmware thus needing a better explanation. Thank you in advance for your time and patience. I was computer literate at one time and would like to continue to learn. JSolved92KViews0likes4CommentsWARNING Vulnerability ID: NON-2015-0211 on my Netgear Router WNR2000v3 Please help
I scanned my MacBook with the avast antivirus and the network Scan a vulnerability which I was searching online to fix additional solution yet this is what I found on PCWorld website At first glance, sending requests to this SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) service requires an authenticated session. However, Adkins discovered that sending HTTP requests with a blank form and a “SOAPAction” header is enough to extract sensitive information from a vulnerable device. The information that can be extracted includes the administrator password; the name and access keys for the wireless networks configured on the device, and details about the device including its model, serial number and firmware version. Adkins confirmed that Netgear WNDR3700v4, WNDR3700v4, WNR2200 and WNR2500 devices are vulnerable. However, because of the flaw’s location, other devices, including WNDR3800, WNDRMAC, WPN824N and WNDR4700, might also be affected, he said. This was posted on the 16 February 2015 and today is October 22 2015 and I was just wondering if this was going to be fixed or not because I search everywhere no one has A answer to fix This I need to know please I don't want my information to be on the Hacker world. i like my netgear router but i am afraid to use it now I need to know if I need to change router Brands Thanks By the way this is the link of 1 of the few posts that talks about this vulnerability NG WNR2000v3 Vulnerability NON-2015-0211Solved
