Our AC1900 has completely reset itself after a power outage last night. Auto updates is disabled but I have kept it up to date manually. Current version is V1.0.12.216_10.2.122 The router is 7 years old, bought new. Is this behavior something that should be expected from this point on until we replace the unit?Netgear R7000

I changed my wifi password with my Xfinity modem today. I am using my nighthawk router as an extender. I thought I had to update the password on my nighthawk to this new one though I am not sure this is necessary . I went to login to my nighthawk on the app but I get a " wifi not detected" message. I then tried to login on my pc using routerlogin.net and also the 192.168.0.1 but neither worked. First of all do I even need to do anything to my router if I simply changed my Xfinity wifi password? If yes, how can I access the admin panel on my router? Thanks for any help.129Views0likes2CommentsInternet connection Interruption
Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed internet connection interruptions. I'm trying to track down the source of the interruptions. I started with the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 logs and found out that the logs have a very limited length and do not appear to cover enough time to allow me to look back in time more than 1 hour. How can I have a longer log? Is there something else I should be looking at to eliminate the router as the source of the interruptions?110Views0likes6Commentsr7000 router only shows two lefthand lights
We lost internet this morning. Verizon Fios says that the internet is all good on their end, so it potentially is a problem with our R7000 router. (https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r7000/) Only the two left lights are showing and I dont think that's right. Anyone know what I can to do fix it? Do we need a new router??57Views0likes2CommentsSupport for Linux clients and OPENVPN on R7000 or any other Netgear router
Althought the R7000 router has support for MAC and Windows clients when using the Netgear R7000 OPENVPN built-in server, it does not support Linux as a client. See the following link: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-VPN-Service-TAP-or-TUN/m-p/1002408#M20691 Currently I am running the latest "supported" firmware version: V1.0.4.30_1.1.67 as of Nov 10 2015 There is a great number of Linux users and not being able to take advantage of the OPENVPN server in the Router seems to be a big limitation/oversight. I personally purchased this router because of the fat that it had a built in OENVPN server, so that I could connect my Android and Linux devices to my network. As I discovered after purchasing the router neither of these platforms are supported. It seems that IOS and Android support is coming, but no plans to implement Linux. It may be possible to manually configure a Linux client if Netgear would publish how OPENVPN is implemented. I understand that this would not be "supported" by Netgear, but for those of us who have some technical skill we could possibly implement it and make it work for our needs. Providing information such as and not limited to the following would be very useful since OPENVPN is open source software: Tunnel Device (TUN/TAP) Protocol UDP/TCP) Port number (1194 -> official port, or another port defined by Netgear) Encryption cipher (None, blowfish, AES-512/256/192/128 CBC, etc....) Hash algorithm (SHA1/256/512,MD4/5,none, etc....) TLS Cipher (none, AES-128/256 SHA, etc...) LZO Compression (Adaptive, yes/No, none) Authority/ Password usage TLS Auth Key usage ? PKCS12 Key usage? Static Key usage? ns-cert-type server ? Is access limited to the local network, to access the internet only, or to both local and internet? etc..... This post is essentially to ask for Netgear to provide the following: Implement a Linux client file and instructions on how to implement it for the various distributions of Linux. Provide comprehensive documentation on how OPENVPN is implemented in the R7000 router or any other router that has an OPENVPN server built-in.95KViews13likes7CommentsR7000 - Disney Circle - Internet speeds through router slowdown
Creating a new thread to focus on this one issue. I don't believe this is a general slow wifi/slow internet issue, but is clearly Circle related. All tests done on wired connection via my Netgear R7000. I have a cable internet plan advertised as 150/15. This was all done on firmware 1.0.9.14, and I did a factory reset and setup my options yesterday fresh. I have never enabled QoS or Web Traffic. I do have IPv6 configured and it works. Circle was enabled now for 24 hours. Speed slowly sinks down to 37Mbps. I see this speedtest: Turn off Circle via webpage on router and hit apply. This saves quickly, no reboot of router. Now I see full speed, and see how solid the download speed is? I turn Circle back on, hit apply and I get this speed test. All tests run inside 2 minutes: Turn Circle back off, and retest. Going to leave it off for 24 hours now to test: Looking for any support from Netgear if this is expected, and if it is fixable. Willing to help test if needed, as Cirlce seems like a great feature.20KViews2likes43Comments
