ReadyCLOUD
9 TopicsRed circle on finder folders ReadyNAS
I've been having problems using Readycloud with finder on my mac. Here's the process I've been following: Use Readycloud to connect to my NAS via a finder window. Drag a folder (usually around 2 GB—these are photo catalogs) to a folder on my NAS. Close finder window, then re-open it to the same location. When I do this, I'm seeing a red dot on the folder with a minus sign inside. When I click on one of these folders in finder, I cannot see its contents or any information about it other than its name. (see screenshot) When I go to the Readycloud web interface, I can verify that all of my files have successfully transfered, but for some reason they are not accessible by finder. What gives? Any tips? Using OSX 10.12.6 and my ReadyNAS is running firmware 6.8.11.7KViews0likes3CommentsRN102 Admin page & SMB/AFP shares offline
I recently upgraded the system to firmware 6.7.5 from 6.7.2 I've been having lots of problems since V6.7.x with Readycloud access so decided to disconnect the device from ReadyCloud & re-Discover it & set it up again (expecting to retain all data & AFP/SMB shares) The Admin page refuses to show & is always reported as "offline" whether I try from inside ReadyCloud page or direct from a PC or iPad browser. Sometimes it even says I am not on the same network ! I have seen a moderator say in reply to another post that 1GB RAM is now not really enough. My system has only 512MB. Questions are :- 1/ how to get to the Admin Page 2/ can the RAM be increased ? Hoping someone can help !! Thanks in advance.3.2KViews0likes4CommentsMy recommendation: Don't use ReadyCloud user home shares
The recent issue with the ReadyCloud server has shown a vulnerablility of losing everything in a ReadyCloud users' home share. While I expect Netgear to take steps to prevent that in the future, I certainly would not rely on it never happening again. My advice is to stop using user home shares for ReadyCloud users. You can create another share (but it can't have the same name as any users' name) and give just one user access. You can take advantage of the case dependancy of share and user names to create similar names (i.e. user "somebody" has access to share "Somebody"). This has the added benefit that you can use that same share with both a local and a ReadyCloud account. Then if the ReadyCloud server is down, local users are not locked out of their data. For these reasons, this has always been my recommendation; the recent events have just added a new and more compelling reason. If you never even access your NAS remotely, you may even want to consider stopping using ReadyCloud at all. My opinion has always been that Netgear is doing nobody any favors by having a user model where your NAS is your own "little piece of the cloud". It's not. It's a NAS stitting there right next to your computer, on the shelf, in the closet, etc. And ReadyCloud access to it relies on Netgear's server, whether you are next to it or 1000 miles away. There are also other ways to access it remotely where you use the local account rather than the ReadyCloud one. I recommend ZeroTier (do a search), though other VPN solutions and accessing it via remote access to a computer on your network are other options.5.2KViews2likes4CommentsHow to backup from remote to local
I am looking for help on the best method to do scheduled weekly backups from a local NAS to a remote NAS. Both NAS's are running OS 6.6.1 Local NAS is ReadyNAS Pro 6 Remote NAS is ReadyNAS 516 Both NAS's are connected to readycloud. I am assuming the best method is to schedule backup jobs to run on the local NAS and send the files to the remote NAS. One Backup job for each share. I assume the best protocol is Rsync over remote SSH. Both NAS's Have Rsync protocall set to read/write for each share. What entry do I put in the host field. I would like to schedule the jobs to run weekly during low use times to reduce network traffic. Any help would be appreciated.13KViews0likes17CommentsCan't access ReadyCloud any more, can't use remote
We were only ever able to get one computer to connect via ReadyCloud. Now it won't connect that way any more either. We can still see the device on our local network, but we can't access it via the browser. We also can't use the desktop client. I installed it so we would have remote access on a business trip. It never worked, and now when I try to log in, it says my user name and password are invalid, even though I'm using the ones I set it up with. I tried to get a new password and it says none of the emails I've ever used (only one of which I would have used for this purpose) are valid. Right now I have a $600 brick and a bad reputation for recommending this. I seriously need help.4.5KViews0likes24CommentsReadyNAS sharing internal vs. external access
We have users in our office which need full access to our ReadyNAS via the Macs we supply them. But when they go home, they shouldn't have the same level of access from their personal home computers, and certainly shouldn't be syncing all of the company's files there. With this ReadyCloud thing, it seems like the user always has the same level of access. Heck, it even circumvents our network-level permissions by delegating ReadyCloud as an intermediary connection. Is ReadyNAS (ReadyCloud) useful in such circumstances? Basically, is it useful for businesses which need any level of security on its files? How does one set it up?2.1KViews0likes2CommentsReadyCloud, Android 5+ App version 1.2.2 - Media Backup duplicating files
I have setup the Ready Cloud media backup on two Android phones 5+ (LG G3 and Nexus 5) When I moved app versions from 1.2.1 which had "Photo Backup" to 1.2.2 which has "Media Backup". I am now doing a backup and it is duplicating files i.e. creating a xxx(1).jpg version of the file that is already there. My questions is: - how can I stop this happening? - can I delete the xxx(1).jpg versions so I do not have duplicate versions? Thank you for any guidance Antoine2.1KViews0likes1Commentreadynas remote legacy users affected by cloud outage?
