Troubleshooting
100 TopicsNo internet after switch is plugged in
I have a GS305v3 unmanaged switch that I just bought and attempted to use. It is connected to my internet via cat6 cable that I ran from my office in my house where my router/modem is located, to my bedroom. When I connect any device to the ethernet port that I put in the bedroom, I have no issues connecting to the internet. But if I plug the switch into the port, then any device to the switch, no internet is passing through. All lights on the switch illuminate as they should according to the manual, but I can't seem to find any info as to what the problem possibly is. For a clear picture of how all the hardware is set up: Fiber internet direct to router/modem in office Cat6 cable to ethernet port in office Cat6 cable from office ethernet port to bedroom ethernet port through the attic Any device connected directly to ethernet port in bedroom works perfectly with 1000mbps+ download Switch plugged direct to ethernet port, devices plugged into switch, no internet to any devices Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who offers advice.55Views0likes17CommentsGS105 troubleshooting - ports seem to not be working
Just bought a GS105 and it will power on (green light stays on), however, it doesn't seem to want to send/recieve anything through any of the ports. I have tested the cable via my mac > my ankr hub > ethernet port in the wall, and it can connect. It seems to lose it when it goes through the switch. The Port with the cable going from the switch to the ethernet wall port has both lights green/flashing occasionally. Super lost here. Using cat6 cables, just wired cat6 from my router up to my wall in my office as well, so all relatively new wiring/in good shape. The connections on my network tab within my settings just show the ethernet connections under other services rotating places (while still remaining not connected). Any suggestions would be super appreciated.422Views0likes1CommentProblems moving from GS108 to GS116v2
I replaced an old GS108 to a GS116v2 and my home network became unusable both proximal (before) and distal (after) to the switch. Very slow and intermittent dropped signals. The green lights are flashing as if there is activity but my network became useless. I switched back to the GS108 and everything is fine again. I need the extra ports of the 116 so maybe I’ll need to buy another 108? Any advice would be appreciated.432Views0likes4CommentsGS605v5 - my wi-fi is working, but my computer's ethernet connection hasn't worked for days
My ISP is Spectrum. My modem (and their tests) indicate that I'm getting service. I have a Netgear switch that relays things to my Wi-Fi mesh system and to my PC. I've never had trouble with it before. But a few nights ago, the ethernet connection on my computer stopped working (so I had to switch to Wi-Fi, which is still working). Since then I've contacted Spectrum, tried a few random tricks I found online to try to reset or diagnose the problem, etc...to no avail. The light for my Wi-Fi port is blinking green. The light for my ethernet cable (running to the PC) is solid green. On my computer, it says "Unidentified Network - No Internet" for my ethernet connection. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Be forewarned - my "expertise" on these matters is completely non-existent. So the simpler you can keep the explanations, the better it will help me! Thanks so much.Solved1.1KViews0likes5CommentsGS308P left yellow LED blinks slow. No Internet Connection on this port
Hi everyone, what could be the reason when the left led blinks Slow and rythmically (not the fast flickering when there is Traffic)? I have No Internet Connection on the TP-Link EAP115 N300 Wireless Ceiling Mount Access Point that is connected to this port with the blinking led. I already connectrd another AP to this cable and No Internet there also. When i Plug another cable from another AP into the port the internet connection works fine. So for whatever reason there seems to be a problem with the cable that has worked for some years now. But is the blinking led maybe pointing to something else? Am i missing something? Thanks in advance!569Views0likes1CommentNetgear GS316PP scheduled reboot
Forgive me if this is a very silly question. Is it possible to schedule a weekly reboot cycle with this product? I imagine it being unmanaged would mean no, really not sure of the difference between managed and unmanaged switches. Thanks, JamesSolved786Views0likes1CommentGS105Ev2 - Unable to access switch using a browser
For nearly 10 years I'm a happy user of my GS105Ev2. Now I want to log into the UI again, but (of course) did not remember any credentials. I've reset the switch by pushing the reset button with a paperclip for more than 2 seconds. After a while I realized that the user manual is talking about only a password while I'm asked for a username ánd password via the browser (not sure, but I think this is because of basic authentication where is asked for by the web-server of the switch). What is going on here? When using curl or Postman I get the following response:

401 Authorization Required

Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Web-Smart Server

I already have done the following: - double checked the IP address of the switch i.c.w. the MAC-address multiple times; - tried the default credentials: admin/password; - tried to access the switch using both ways of connecting to the switch as described in the user manual: 1) via router using DHCP etc.; 2) directly using static IP address on laptop etc.; - searching for the switch using the Netgear Switch Discovery Tool, but it doesn't find anything. For all this I used a Apple Silicon MacBook and Firefox. Does anyone has suggestions left?Solved2.9KViews0likes4CommentsGS316 Unmanaged Switch Not Providing Internet
Hello, I have a GS316 16 port unmanaged switch feeding my home network. My ISP router connects to the switch and then the switch feeds multiple wall outlets around the house and another 5 port switch. This setup has worked almost flawlessly for over 6 years until yesterday. Now the ports that have connections to active devices (including the router) flash both LEDs green continuously, but at different rates. I cannot get an internet connection on any port. I've tried the following troubleshooting: Power down switch and power on = fail Connect directly to router ethernet = pass Use a different cable from router to GS316 = fail Try different ports for connecting router to GS316 = fail Connect directly to GS316 (instead of via wall outlets) = fail Connect the 5-port switch to the router = pass This leads me to believe the switch is no longer working correctly. Are there any more troubleshooting steps I could try? Thanks1.9KViews0likes5Comments
