Not sure what's going on but all of a sudden the router won't allow connection via wifi 2.4 but does connect on 5 ghz. Reset the router to factory specs - I'm using xfinity service On several devices (phones, computers) - I told the devices to forget the 2.4 connection - upon refresh the 2.4 connection doesn't show anymore but the 5 Ghz is available and allows connection. Unfortunately my Ring Security system works only on 2.4 ghz among other older devices I have and without a 2.4 connection leaves many devices useless. I went to total reset to factory specs to make sure no other settings were interfering with the 2.4 radio. Upon restart and even though the 2.4.light on the modem is flickering as it normally does there was no mention of my 2.4 connection on any of my devices - only the 5ghz showed and allowed connections. Running Firmware Version V2.2.4.2 The modem/router has been working properly for months using this firmware. I would think that reverting to an earlier firmware wouldn't change things since a factory reset didn't change anything. Thoughts?249Views0likes6CommentsI cannot login routerlogin.net
I have a simillar problem on cax 30 with latest firmaware. I cannot login routerlogin.net. When after attempting hundreds of login attempts I can get in. Once i get in if i try to make some changes, I might lose connection in middle of the setup and will not be able to login again ! It is very frustrating. I was not expecting a poor software on a 400$ router.99Views0likes3Comments2.4 network not found, 5 network is working on a CAX30 modem/router.
I just purchased a CAX30 in December to avoid the new $10 from Spectrum. It had been working without any issues until yesterday when I got home and about 95% of my home has no connectivity to my network on the 2.4 GHz band. Every device that we have is on the older side, which is why they are (were???) connected to this network. My newer devices that can work on the 5 GHz network are connected without any issues and at normal speeds. All the lights on the modem/router are turned on and showing that there is activity. I am using the latest firmware for the modem/router. I did try a full factory reset just to see if that would work but nothing. I have also tried just for fun to enable the guest network under the 2.4 GHz band and it doesn't show up on my list of available networks, but, as soon as I enabled the 5 GHz guest network, that showed up on my list of networks almost instantaneously. I have also tried to separate the networks, combine the networks using the smart connect feature but nothing seems to work. Every change that I have tried fails to pick up the 2.4 GHz network. Also, I'm using the tag for the CAX30s even though my equipment is the regular one without the "S" at the end.153Views0likes3CommentsSlow WiFi Cax30 xfinity
I just installed a Cax30 with Xfinity wifi. Speed going into the router is about what it should be near 400, but wifi coming out is around 80. I tried different locations etc, but wonder if there are some wifi router settings that may increase the speed. Thanks .Solved207Views0likes14CommentsNew CAX30, Xfinity Issues
I was using an older Netgear Modem and Netgear Router and Comcast told me it was no longer in their recommendations. For a couple of years they told me I was at the 800Mbps service tier (started off paying for 200Mbps service but they kept increasing this along with the bill), yet all I ever got was 170Mbps dowload. I could easily argue that I was ripped off for several years by Xfinity. So I decided to update my equipment to something in their recommendations and I installed a CAX30 modem/router. The first couple of days after provisioning I was getting upwards of 700Mbps download and I was satisfied, however that performance quickly disappeared in the third day from installation to the point where 250Mbps is the max I can get on WiFi and oddly enough ethernet performance is more like 100Mbps (thought these were gigabit ethernet ports?). I looked at the modem log and found several Critical (3) entries. Here's the latest; UCD invalid or channel unusable;CM-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;CMTS-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1; The fact that my equipment performed successfully for the first few days after provisioning makes me think this is not a problem inside my home but rather something to do with my neighborhood and/or Xfinity's infrastructure. Seems crazy to be paying Xfinity for "up to 800Mbps" and using high end Netgear equipment with these middling results. Does the modem's critical message reveal anything and what about the very slow ethernet results? thanks423Views0likes14Comments
