I have a RBS50Yv2 about four years old set up in extender mode with a Starlink version 1 router. Has been working great had power outages and the extender would restart and connect with saved settings. Now if the power goes off the extender resets to setup mode and has to be setup and synced to the Starlink to function. Do these have an internal battery that saves the settings or is their another issue I'm missing.New firmware bricked my RBK50
Yesterday I tried to update my Orbi from 2.7.5.6 to 2.7.6.6. I used the manual method like I did many times before without any problems. The update progress bar stopped at approx 75% and nothing happened. Although the admin page said the update usually takes around 3 minutes, I waited 20 minutes, but nothing happened. I then restarted the router but it seems dead. The green power led is on steady green, but there is no light in the rings on top of the device. Pressing the reset button does nothing. Always same thing : rings have no light and the power led is green. I don't seem to get an IP address either. I tried everything I could find on the net, no success. After many years of super reliable operation this firmware killed my device. Anyone have an idea?RBR50 signal lost multiple times during the day when having teams calls
I have a RBR50 router connecting to two sattelites. One on each floor. On the 1st floor the connecting is lost several times during the day. On the 2nd floor the issue is the same. How can I improve the network to be more stable? Or do I need to upgrade to a newer set up?Sync Orbi RBS50Y outdoor satellite to new Orbi
This doesn't have enough upvotes. Thank you for the clear step-by-step. After countless hours, this was the fix that worked for me. A couple things I'll add: To update firware, you'll need to download the firmware from netgear before connecting to the NETGEAR_EXT local wifi. Search for "RBS50Y latest firware extender mode". In the Smart Setup wizard there are 3 password options for both 2GHz and 5GHz: create new, copy router, or leave unsecured. During the first connection, select Leave Unsecured. You can change this after it's connected to the router. Cheers!Edit/Add new IP reservations
I have an RBR50v2 Orbi router and 2 satellites with FW ver 2.7.5.6. I have entered 15, or so, reserved internal IP addresses using "Advanced > Security > Access Control". All works well. The issue is, if I edit existing entries or add new entries, boot my router/satellites, log back into my router and go to "Basic > Attached Devices", the changes do not show up. It seems like I had this problem in the distant past and had to delete all reserved IP address entries in "Access Control", boot the system and re-enter all IP reservations. Is that the work around for this issue? Any help is appreciated.
