Hi After upgrading to 1.0.9.6, something has prevented some of my 2.5ghz devices from being able to connect to wpa2/3 setting when smart connect is enabled. the only way to resolve was to disable smart connect and change security to wpa2 only, or downgrade firmware which I have now done, and everything is working perfectly again. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks1.8KViews0likes60CommentsRS700 Issues
After updating my Nighthawk RS700 router’s firmware to V1.0.9.6, several devices stopped connecting, and the device name database became corrupted where device names got assigned to other devices randomly. I understand his is a known bug that Netgear has yet to resolve. Despite spending hours with Netgear support and opening multiple cases, their only fix was to downgrade the firmware to 1.0.7.96, which resolved the connectivity issues but not the device name database problem. Support offered a trial firmware, but communication stalled and my cases disappeared from their website. Has anyone else had this issue and found a resolution by any chance? When I spoke with support they said there was no trial firmware that addresses this problem. I wish I had taken a screenshot of the message sent by a Netgear representative in response to a case that I had opened with this issue.347Views0likes9CommentsNighthawk WiFi 7 Router RS700S new firmware update not alerting???
This router is advertised as "The most powerful & advanced Nighthawk router ever." yet there is no indication or alert to the latest firmware (Version 1.0.9.6), why is that? The latest firmware was released JULY 7, 2025 & seems to address about 9 bugs (security issues) and add some features yet the router wont bring this to my attention, I had to go dig for it. Am I missing something? Even my Buffalo Airstation router from 2012 would indicate a firmware update so why is this "Flagship" router silent regarding what seems to be an important update? Not impressed so far....300Views0likes7CommentsInternet LED Behavior - RS700
The Internet LED on my new RS700 is always solid white in normal operation, it never blinks. The manual says it should blink when there is internet traffic. I talked with support and the tech assured me that solid white was normal for the RS700 and that the manual was in error. I'm still wondering though. Can other RS700 tell me if they are seeing the same behavior?Solved250Views0likes11CommentsRS 700 will not allow some devices to connect to internet after last firmware update
Updated my RS 700 to 1.0.9.6 and now it takes 2 or 3 reboots for it to sync with the modem and when it does, it will not allow 2 of my devices on the 2.4ghz network to connect to the internet. I’ve replaced those devices with new ones and the same thing happens during setup, the respective tech support teams are at a loss. 5ghz and 6ghz bands seem fine, the 2.4ghz seems to have reduced range. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.Solved248Views1like10CommentsRS700 VPN Service certs incomplete?
I've been setting up NoIP and the VPN Service on my RS700. I'm on firmware version V1.0.9.6_2.0.100. After much tinkering and following much of the helpful advice here, I have a connection that works. However, I am getting this error in the log, which I have seen others post about but update the firmware seems to be the solution(?). I'm on the latest firmware. Thu Oct 23 17:12:39 2025 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info. When I add remote-cert-tls server to my .ovpn file, which in my understanding is good practice to include, my connection fails: Thu Oct 23 17:15:09 2025 Certificate does not have key usage extension Thu Oct 23 17:15:09 2025 VERIFY KU ERROR I've stopped started the VPN Service multiple times, re-copied the config files etc but can not get the connection working with remote-cert-tls server in my .ovpn file. The certificate provided by the router seems to be missing the necessary Key Usage (KU) flags. How do I fix this, please?235Views0likes15CommentsRS700 IPv4 Lease Not Renewing (still not fixed).
I have a Nighthawk RS700 currently running firmware 1.0.9.16. There is a problem with renewing the IPv4 lease. If I restart the router it picks up an Ipv4 address with a 24 hour lease. After 12 hours it should release and then renew that lease for another 12 hours. However, instead of doing this, it retains this lease for the full 24 hours, at which time it does, then release and renew the lease and this is where the problem happens. When it renews the lease, it shows the Lease Obtained as 1 Days, 0 Hours 0 Minutes and below that it shows Lease Expires as 49710 Days, 6 hours, 27 Minutes (first picture). Some hours later all IPv4 traffic stops (second picture). All the lights on the router remain white and the Ipv4 Lease Expires display continues to count down, but most websites can no longer be reached. The only websites that continue to work are those with an IPv6 address, such as Google, Amazon etc. Sometimes it is possible to renew the lease by using the Release and Renew buttons, sometimes you cannot log into the router at all, and the only option is a hard reset. Exactly the same problem is exhibited with firmware 1.0.9.6, however downgrading to firmware 1.0.7.96 makes problem go away and the router renews the IPv4 lease every 12 hours, as expected. The thing is I really would like to continue being able to upgrade to the latest firmware as we are all waiting for the big one that enables MLO. Further information. I have a Nighthawk RS200 running firmware 1.0.5.22 that does not exhibit this problem. I also have a Nighthawk AX6000 that, also does not have this problem. My ISP is Community Fibre in London, UK. I have a fibre to the premises connection. My ONT is a Adtrans SDX621i connected to the router with a CAT8 cable. As I bought the router second hand and it had already been registered, I do not qualify for the 90 day free support from Netgear. Another user describes a similar/same problem here. RS700 WAN lease issue | NETGEAR Communities Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved229Views0likes18Comments"Up to 5.8 Gbps" it only uses 20 Mhz
I am having the same issue, it keeps going to 20 MHz even though I'm trying to use this for a Quest 3 wireless access point. 20 MHz is not cutting it either for steamVR. I bought this router exclusively for this and it is performing worse than congested 5 GHz channels.212Views0likes7Commentswifi7 connection problems with iphone 17
