I have an N600 C3700 cable modem/wifi router, and I am having trouble with the speed of my wifi connection. I have Comcast Blast 150Mbps service, and my wired connection typically gets 175-180Mbps (testing with both Speedtest.net and Xfinity's speed test site). However when on wifi I typically am getting 25-30Mbps on the 2.4GHz channel and maybe up to 50Mbps on the 5GHz channel. I’ve tried on two different android phones, two ipads, and a macbook air, and all have those same slow results over wifi. Tested when within about 3 feet of the router, all the way to 20 feet away. I have run the tests dozens of times over the past several days and those results are consistent. I have checked all the settings on the router and all appear to be per Netgear recommendations. I am using WPA2-PSK [AES] security and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are set to the “Up to 300 Mbps” mode (I understand I'm not going to get 150 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, but I think I should get it on the 5 GHz). There are no neighboring wifi signals on the channels I am using so it is not an interference issue, nor are there any other possible interference signals in my home that I am aware of. I have tried disabling the encryption and still get the same speed. This morning I did a factory reset and confirmed I’m on the latest firmware (v2.02.06) and I still have the same problem. Any guidance on how to increase the wifi speed?22KViews5likes16CommentsR7000 - Disney Circle - Internet speeds through router slowdown
Creating a new thread to focus on this one issue. I don't believe this is a general slow wifi/slow internet issue, but is clearly Circle related. All tests done on wired connection via my Netgear R7000. I have a cable internet plan advertised as 150/15. This was all done on firmware 1.0.9.14, and I did a factory reset and setup my options yesterday fresh. I have never enabled QoS or Web Traffic. I do have IPv6 configured and it works. Circle was enabled now for 24 hours. Speed slowly sinks down to 37Mbps. I see this speedtest: Turn off Circle via webpage on router and hit apply. This saves quickly, no reboot of router. Now I see full speed, and see how solid the download speed is? I turn Circle back on, hit apply and I get this speed test. All tests run inside 2 minutes: Turn Circle back off, and retest. Going to leave it off for 24 hours now to test: Looking for any support from Netgear if this is expected, and if it is fixable. Willing to help test if needed, as Cirlce seems like a great feature.20KViews2likes43CommentsRN3220 / RN4200 Crippling iSCSI Write Performance
I've got a mixed OEM ecosystem with several Tier 2 RN3220's and RN4200's along with Tier 1 EqualLogic storage appliances. All ReadyNAS appliances have 12 drive compliments Seagate Enterprise 4TB drives in them. I wanted to be able to use the ReadyNAS' as iSCSI options, particuarly for maintainance cycles on the storage network, so I re-purposed them from NFS use. Factory reset them onto 6.6 firmware and they have subsequently been upgraded to 6.7.1 with no change in symptoms. The drives have no errors It's a new install, so there are no fragmentation issues etc. The NAS's use X-RAID I've set them up with 2 NIC 1GbE MPIO from the Hyper-V side (I've also tried it on 10GbE and on 1 NIC 1GbE with no impact). 9k jumbo frames are on There are no teams on the RN's Checksum is off Quota is off iSCSI Target LUN's are all thick Write caching is on (UPS's are in place) Sync writes are disabled As many services as I can find are off, there are no SMB shares No NetGear apps or cloud services No snapshots The short summary of the problem is that if I migrate a VM VHDX storage from the EqualLogic on to any of the ReadyNAS appliances, accross the same storage network and running from the same hypervisor, the data migration takes an eternity and once the move completes the write performance is uterrly, utterly crippled. Here are the ATTO stats: Same VM, on the same 1GbE network. In the case of the above over 1x 1GbE, single path, all running on the same switches. Moving the VM back to the EqualLogic storage takes a fraction of the time to move and the performance of the VM is instantly restored. According to the ATTO data above the ReadyNAS should be offering better performance than the substantially more expensive EqualLogic, however in this condition these units are next to useless. If I create an SMB share and perform a file copy of the storage network, I can get 113MB/s off of a file copy on a 1x1GbE NIC, with no problems. So it does not look like a network issue. Does anyone have any ideas? I have one of the 3220's in a state that I can do anything to. The only thing that I haven't done is try Flex-RAID instead of X-RAID, but these numbers do not look like a RAID parity calculation issue. Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.SolvedNETGEAR A6210 WiFi USB3.0 Adapter Connection Speed Still 54Mb/s Argggh!
I have installed software version 1.0.0.36 as recommended on this forum, I have set the USB Speed to 3.0 in the Advanced tab, I have disabled the NetgearUSBSwitch process from Start-up, and probably a few other things too which escape me at this hour, but I still only get a slow 54Mb/s connection speed. After the installation of the software v1.0.0.36 the connection speed did go up to 144Mb/s and all was good, but the next start up of my PC and all back as it was. Any suggestion would be gratefully received as I'm just about to purchase another manufacturers Wi-Fi Adapter. Thanks in advance.Solved11KViews0likes5CommentsR7000 problems since latest firmware update - which firmware is stable/should I revert to?
I need to perform a firmware upgrade on one of my r7000 routers that is notably behind in this respect. The one that has been upgraded to the latest firmware has had more network drops and performance issues since I did this. After reviewing other Netgear Community discussions, it looks like the issues I'm having since the latest firmware update are global. So, in lieu of a fixed Netgear r7000 firmware update, what is the best/least buggy firmware version for me to use to update my other R7000 so that I don't run into the issues associated with the most recent firmware version?Solved9.3KViews0likes11CommentsWNDR3400v3 slow wired connection
I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedOrbi ethernet speed significantly slower than wifi
My wifi is working great. I pay for 100 mbps download and get at least that through the Orbi wifi. However, when I plug a laptop directly into the ethernet ports it's a whole different story. I get 5 to 9 mbps (90+ percent slower than wifi). I tried plugging the laptop into both the router and satellite and get the same result. I've attached two speedtest screenshots - one of them is using the wifi and the other the ethernet. Interestingly, the upload is virtually the same while the download is 15x slower over ethernet (unusable)Wifi 2.4Ghz very slow on my R6250 Router
Last week I bought a R6250 Wifi Router, and I have problems with 2.4Gb wifi connections. They are too slow. I have 300 Mb (download) and 30 Mb (upload) with my ISP provider. With 5Ghz Wifi connection I have more than 200Mb for download and 30 Mb for upload, but with 2.4Gb Wifi connection I have 15/20 Mb for downloading and only 1-5 MB for uploading. With my old 2Ghz wifi connection I had 35/40 Mb for donwloading and 20/30 MB for uploading. I'm using speedtest app on mobile devices to do the speed tests. The firmware version is V1.0.4.2_10.1.10. Can anyone help me with this problem? Any recommendation?SolvedR6400 router slow after firmware update V1.0.1.32_1.0.23
WiFi web download speed test dropped from near 100 Mbps download to around 20 Mbps after firmware upgrade. I tested by plugging directly into modem and get around 200 Mbps; same when cabled directly into the router. I see this speed reduction across several computers and phones, so I am sure it is the router and WiFi specifically. I rebooted several times, unplugged and replugged, check that WMM and QoS remain disabled, no blocking is enabled. My Macbook Pro connects over 5G on channel 157. Please advise on what to do next. Otherwise I'm moving to away from NetGear...Solved6.2KViews0likes8Comments
