Connection Failure on Speed Test
I did a facory reset of my system about two weeks ago and loaded the new firmware for the system which seems to be working better. I have been able to perform spped tests on the system through the Orbi app on my Iphone until today. I keepo getting a connection failure error. I have rebooted both the modem and router and I am still having the same issue.

Same problem from yesterday to me. I have used IOS app without any problem and also if I try to do the speed test from the Web access (Orbilogin) and I receive the same error.
I have uninstall the app & install it again in my iphone & ipad but the same error appears.
I have tried too a android smartphone and same problem.
On the other hand, I have had also a magent ligth in my router today, hopefully I fixed it.
Last firmware installed. (v2.0.0.56)
Thanks
- We just have to wait! Emailed Netgear App Support about my issue and was Emailed back with the statement that Netgear are aware and are working with Ookla to fix this problem!
That was great to hear but why is there still no mention about all of this on Netgears Main support page?
Still hold the opinion that Netgear as a Global Company just does not care about it's customers.
So problem still not fixed👺- j_t_gGuide
The last commenter is unfortunately correct. I've tried to obtain multiple updates, but there are none. The most I have heard is that Netgear is actively working with Ookla to resolve the problem. You wouldn think they would have been able to resolve the issue in a week, but I guess the issue must be more complicated than it seems from the outside. One interesting side effect of this issue is that if you've never setup advanced QoS on your router and want to you appear to be out of luck until the speed test works (at least via the Web admin). They require the speed test to run before you can actually get to the setup parameters. I haven't figured out a way around this. Hopefully, Netgear will be able to fix the problem soon as many of us have been impacted by this issue.
Is the speed test via web browser on a PC working?
speedtest app on my iphone is working.

It is Orbi app on IOS & android.
Also from Orbilogin.com web
It is Orbi app on iphone
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the router is connected too?
I would notify NG support. Maybe something going on on with the app. Maybe due for an update.
- GuanadusTutorThe modem router is connected too in bridge mode.
Model MitraStar GPT-2541GNAC (HGU) from MOVISTAR (Spain).
The problem is with the Orbi app on IOS & Android (both)
The problem is also in orbilogin.com in the advance setting > speed test.
Note that the error stated yesterday, previously worked fine in all systems
ThanksI would notify NG support. Maybe something going on on with the app.
Wow, it appears that there is a problem with the app and I am not the only person having app problem.
I called support before I posted my app problem. But, they said they will get back with me in one to two days. So, I thought I'd ask in the commmunity forum.

Same issue , speed test failed on mobile app. I ran it in pc connected to Orbi router and worked fine

Speed test fail ,I changed cable , rebooted , confirm updates, when you pay $500, you don't expect problems in less than 8 months, thank god for the community, all manufacturer suck with service.

I don’t think it’s firmware related. We’re all seeing the problem on all fw versions. Almost certainly on the NG back end.
- j_t_gGuideI received a full response from Netgear support. They are aware that their connection to OOKLA is down and they are working on it. Full message below.
Thanks for contacting NETGEAR Support.
The speedtest service used by our Orbi Router appears be down at the moment. We are currently working with Ookla on resolving this, and hope for it to be resolved as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience.

Updated to 2.1.3.4 which has fixed intermittent connection issue. Now speed test does not work from within the Orbi App. Going direct to OOKLA works fine and normal speeds.
Says, “Connection Failed - if the problem persists, try rebooting your router.” Rebooting has no effect on repairing this problem.
Is there something wrong with what I am doing or is this just a problem with 2.1.3.4.?
No, this is a NG speed servicie issue. Someone already contacted NG support and they said they are aware of it.
Did you perform a factory reset on the router after updating it?

Just wasted a few hours trying to troubleshoot failure of Ookla speedtest from Orbi app. Should have looked here first. Tested directly from desktop with no problems. Would appreciate a heads-up from Netgear when this happens.

Firmware version: 2.1.2.18 on both router and satellite.
Both direct router speedtest and orbi app on iphoneX speedtest still fail as of today. Speedtest direct from iphone app or PC/Mac are fine. Clearly Netgear->Ookla problem. Any update?
