Firmware V1.12.0.18 Discussion
This does indeed appear to be based on (identical to?) the last private beta V1.12.0.16 and has been released to the public. Hope it helps!
Guest mode AP isolation finally works 100% over IPv4 and IPv6 - much happiness in my household. =)
Rodney
New Features and Enhancements:
- Supports ReadySHARE Printer for Orbi devices that are equipped with a USB port
- Updated the OrbiOS API to v3.14
Bug Fixes:
- Fixes the iOS disconnection issue.
- Fixes the Dropcam disconnection issue.
- Fixes the convergence issue when an Ethernet connected device moves from one Orbi to another.
- Fixes the issue where the Orbi app can’t find the Orbi router if the router is using IPv6 and is in AP mode.
- Fixes the issue where the Orbi app can’t display more than 20 connected devices.

So, I got my replacement RBR50 router today, since the previous one was bricked during a failed firmware rollback.
I'm running it all on the latest firmware and giving it another try and see how long it takes for the satellites to drop off.
I have set the main SSID to OrbiSucks . I chose a password that does not include spaces, or any other weird characters. Then I disabled SSID broadcast.
I setup the SSID that all my devices are already setup for as "Guest network", with its weird SSID name and secure passphrase, spaces and all.
I moved my Canon Pro 100 printer back to one of the ports on Orbi satellite #1 instead of the powerline ethernet.
I got a bunch of PINGs going from one of my local single board computers (Odroid XU4) to the Orbi router (setup as AP), each of the 2 satellites, the printer which hangs off one satellite, and my 2 electric car chargers. Let's see how long this will all last... Previous experience previously with 1.2.0.18 were mostly about 48-72 hours until one or both satellites dropped.

Netgear support sent me a beta firmware version earlier today (labeled 2.0.0.62-debug). Installed it, and after a recommended factory reset and some initial weirdness, the satellite and router are talking, with the satellite showing up on the browser interface as a connected satellite, not just a connected device. Logging into the satellite's IP shows that the radios are enabled, and that there are devices connected. Watching now for drops with connected iDevices, as that was also a problem. I haven't dug into the beta to see what else is different, other than noticing that the "attached devices" screen shows a little more information than the 1.12 version did.
Crossing my fingers and toes, knocking wood, and everything else I can think of. I love the system when it works, and hoping that this new version restores functionality.

Does this beta add the ability to stop automatic firmware updates ?

With this last firmware I can't set portforwarding and DMZ zone. I try everything but don't work!
The other future work perfectly for me, I have a lot of device connected and I need to reboot the network only once a month.
Question: If I do a factory reset, I lost the connection between RBR50 and satellite, or only configuration parameter are rest?

Yes, you will lose the connection between the router and satellite(s) when you factory reset them, as well as setting the configuration settings back to factory defaults. You'll find that you need to start reconfiguring from the very beginning, like when you first got the Orbi. This includes bringing up the router and satellite(s), and waiting until the router finds and gets in contact with the satellite(s). It isn't difficult, the router firmware guides you through the whole process, but it does take a few minutes. For this part, I find it is very handy to have the desktop that I'm using for configuring and admin'ing the router directly plugged into a LAN port on the router (I use the Orbi in AP mode).

I reset the Orbi RBR50 router that is setting in router mode. I try to setup portforwarding before every other setting (like wifi setup, dynamic dns setup,...). Now I can not even set a port. And if I put a server IP in DMZ, even here I can not reach any port.
I think there's a problem with this firmware!
- Sevo123ApprenticeWowwww!!!! I messaged Netgear on Facebook which is there support team multiple times I get a auto response in 1day max you will get a response. 1 week going into the second week not a single response. This firmware is some BS! U make us pay big money for this service? Roll out the damn correct software so everyone can enjoy the actual product. I felt like I was told Im getting the Bently I paid for but in reality its a salvage toyota! I hope Netgear is reading this so they see how losing customers feels like. Soon I will be messaging corporate hopefully some of the big head honchos can do something about this!

I'm also looking at other channels to raise issues. The mods here ignore any request for an escalation point, so I figure my only option is to find one on my own. I'll be sure to mention the piss poor communication and willful ignoring of questions by the mod team here, I recommend you do the same. Someone has to take some ownership for this.

I've had my Orbi for about a week now. Everything seems fine, except the internet speed in backyard is really bad (20ft from orbi router). Both my wifes iphone & mine show full signal strength, but the internet speed seems up and down. Once second it's fast, one second it's slow. On the iPad it seems alittle better, but still not quite the speed i'm getting inside the house. Really upset about this, I really should of done some more research before purchasing this damn thing.
I have tried downgrading to 1.11.0.2 but it seems the same. Please netgear release a fix for this ASAP. Or i'm gonna have to try to sell this system and get my $500 back. Really upsetting.

I am beyond frustrated and have wrote reviews on Amazon and Costco for people to stay away from this product - It is unstable and unusable for the past month. Support is slow and non-helpful.

Sames here. I'm gonna write a review on Amazon and major reseller here in France warning people to stay away from this product.

Hi everyone. I asked on facebook netgear support about when will they fix the issue about the orbi not being fully mesh system where the satalites will connect to eachother and tak to eachother instead of only to the wifi. Also I asked about all the firmware issues going on with this1.12.10.18 they replied like this.
Hello Sevak,
Thank you for reaching out. Sorry for the delay. Our engineering is working on a firmware to be released to support this.
Best Regards,
NETGEAR Team
I asked when this will be no response yet. I will update you guys if I get anything back.

As for me, even if the update came tomorrow, it wouldn't be soon enough. I can't believe that my system functioned just fine when I bought it and even after the V1.12.0.18. Then, a couple of nights ago -- Boom -- everything resets to ground zero and it hasn't held a connection for longer than a few minutes at a time since - no matter what I do. I can't believe that I'm reinstalling my old Airport Extreme tonight.

Try backing up your settings and doing a NVRAM reset, followed by a factory reset and reconfigure/restore settings. Then don't reboot or run QoS.
Can anyone provide a walk-thru of how to manually update the firmware on the satellites if they can't be seen by the router?
I installed the beta about 14 hours ago. I'm happy to say it retained my configuration and things are going well. Downstream speeds are back to where they were before. No dropouts either. Router reports seeing both satellites now.
I did peform a factory reset to the satellites prior to installing the beta. That was the best option so that I could more easily find the satellites' IP addresses and connect to them directly via ethernet to install the beta firmware.
After installing the beta on the satellites, I performed a re-sync between the router and satellites. All is good so far!

The link to the beta firmware requires a login? I would relaly like to install this - is the login something I should know? Can I get into the BETA program some other way?

I have updated to the beta firmware and I am still having issues on my iphones, ipad is somewhat OK. Signal in my back yard is still strong, but the internet is complete garbage. Inside my house running smooth 200-300mb/s.
I have tried everything at this point, not sure if any firmware is going to fix my connection drops in my backyard. Which is litterally 20ft from my router. My damn modem/router worked better. Didn't give that kind of speed but at least I can browse the web in my backyard. I will probably try to sell my orbi on some local classifieds.
Thank You guys for providing the link to get the newest firmware. Something support was not able to do since it came out.
Many of us sufferred beyond imagination from the bad implemantation of this product. So hopes were high that the recent sotware 2.x somewhat solves the always changing signal levels (and drops) of the satilites.
So far this is not the case, even with this firmware the orbis are not ready for primetime
For some people the firmware have solved some problems, for other's like me still not. And then beware to reboot and nobody knows what happens then.
To be fair, so far the firmware is only beta. Maybe at some point in the future netgear with their desastrous support and development manages to make their expensive product fly. I look elsewere. I have scruples to sell the 4 unites knwing that they are crap.
After 4 weeks i give up wasting time ...

I'm with you on this. I haven't even installed the beta firmware after getting a copy of it from a link that was posted earlier because I have been disappointed so many times with past updates. I give up and I will post my Orbi on Ebay. I can't believe that we have to suffer at the cost of losing $400 for a broken product and no chance of a refund.
This just reaffirms my case I said months ago that the problem isn't the firmware it's the hardware. In order to get the product stabilized they are going to have to disable so many features and functions that you are going to be left with a severely over priced router + access point and not a even close to what you paid for.
- 3rd day on the beta firmware 0 drops everything working fast and finally fine... If it continues like this I'll never update again and will stay with this beta firmware for the rest of my Orbi days lol don't trust new firmware anymore specially if you cannot prevent auto updates. Crazy how long Netgear is taking to release the new firmware but happy to be stable with the beta.
- spinkickApprenticeI have this sneaking feeling they are waiting on chipset manufacturers for the radios in these things to release updates that they then build into the firmware. All these companies do is take the new chipset tech and package it into a product.

Well, if they are releasing the Orbi Pro at least we know what Netgear are focused on !
Much the same as last time when the RBK30 and RBK40 were released - all efforts were focused on their release to the detriment of the old RBK50.
