NMS300 switch config backup M4300

Hi Community,

is it possible to backup the switch configuration from M4300-Series in NMS300?

Got the latest release of NMS300 installed (1.5.0.14), desired switch is listed 'version information'. I have seen a post in this community regarding this issue, but there is no solution. It is suggested to use an external file server for config backups.

The backup job fails with error "File transfer failed". Some entries in the switch logfile shows following:

<14> May 25 13:13:33 switch-1/2-1 CLI_WEB[emWeb]: login_sessions.c(178) 389 %% Telnet Session 0 ended for user admin connected from 10.10.100.11
<14> May 25 13:13:30 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(259) 388 %% Error while putting the file
<14> May 25 13:13:30 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1510) 387 %% TFTP Timeout no ACK from TFTP server... aborting transfer
<14> May 25 13:13:20 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1517) 386 %% TFTP Timeout 5 no ACK from TFTP server... resending block
<14> May 25 13:13:10 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1517) 385 %% TFTP Timeout 4 no ACK from TFTP server... resending block
<14> May 25 13:13:00 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1517) 384 %% TFTP Timeout 3 no ACK from TFTP server... resending block
<14> May 25 13:12:50 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1517) 383 %% TFTP Timeout 2 no ACK from TFTP server... resending block
<14> May 25 13:12:40 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1517) 382 %% TFTP Timeout 1 no ACK from TFTP server... resending block
<14> May 25 13:12:33 switch-1/2-1 UNITMGR[umWorkerTask]: unitmgr.c(7033) 381 %% Copy of running configuration to backup unit complete
<14> May 25 13:12:30 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1556) 379 %% Send block 2 , got ACK for #1
<14> May 25 13:12:30 switch-1/2-1 SIM[TransferTask]: tftp_client.c(1556) 378 %% Send block 2 , got ACK for #1

One more interresting thing - while the backup job is running the web management of the switch is not possible, getting error

405 Method Not Allowed

and also getting

404 Not Found

when connecting to the main login page via HTTP. Maybe this is normal since the backup job is connecting via Telnet?

Thanks and best regards.

  • Seems to be an issue within NMS300 and will be fixed in next release.

    Thanks!

    Hi virtualnobody,

    Welcome to the community! :)

I'm afraid to inform you that the M4300 series switches are not yet supported by the NMS300.  On the latest NMS300 software release v1.5.0.14, only the XS708T and XS716T switches have been added on the supported switches of NMS300.  You may check the release notes of the NMS300 software release v1.5.0.14 here.

I suggest you to post this as a new idea at the Idea Exchange Board for Business here. Be reminded that adding kudos to the ideas will help as development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos for considering it to add to the product's future functionality.

    Regards,

Our QA team has re-tested on NMS300v1.5.0.14 with M4300(12.0.0.15 and 12.0.0.1), and it works well in our lab.

You may wish to open a support case with our support team so they can look into this with you. Let me know your case number.

Could you check if you get the TFTP server up on “Resources->NMS Server details”?

         Yes, TFTP server is Up.

Since the logfile shows some progress it must be interrupted by something.
