WOW, this morning about 2am i decided to update my two ORBI RBS satillites first. and that went ok, till a fantom ORBI showed up in my Orbi App. i then proceeded to update the RBR750, that went well till it said it was online but it wasnt. i followed the directions according to Furrye38, (ty) and i unplugged the sats and then the router, waited 2-3 minutes then i plugged in the router and then the sats and waited........it took a few minutes and the router came online then the sats followed. it still took some time for all my devices to get back on line (about 60), which is normal thing that has been happening. then today was the test. we had some heavy thunderstorms roll in, these south florida storms alway knock out some power or damages some weak transformers to were the power goes on and off real quick. it happened 3 times in a half hour i also have the comcast modem and the RBR750 plugged into a surge and battery back up. the weakest like here is the sats, no battery-back up for them and they used to take forever to re-sync but after the upgraded firmware last night, WOW, the ORBI's came right back online which shocked me, i thought i would need to reboot the sats. but no input from me and the whole system came back online quick. i am no IT guy here but this is a major inprovement from the previous firmware that almost killed the ORBI system. thanks to all here on this forum, i have learned alot from here.

i can t still believe that the v4 version is working correctly on some places. Atm moment i have 4 Devices connected to my setup (1rbr750 and 4 rbs750) and still see several outages a day (network monitoring tool). It takes some minutes to comeback again. And it s through all satelites so not only one. it s a standard installation without anything special, several time factory defaults but it s still the same. So may people have also some other staff to do as monitor this piece of sh..... sorry.

Have you disabled AX mode on 2.4Ghz? This doesn't effect the 5Ghz radio. Only 2.4Ghz.
Also try using channel 11 and 48.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.Try reducing the number of RBS to say 1 or 2 and see if problem still happens?
I'm only using two RBS and am NOT seeing any "outages" since last Sataurday.
Others have mentioned a reset has helped them. You may need to factory reset the system and power the system OFF as well.

Hi Fury, please don t missunderstand me but we already chatted in the last days. The last 2 month i tried everything beside the downgrade because i use parent control, and only the mobiles from my kids are now connected to my 1200 Euro Orbi Setup. all the other devices are connected to a 2.4ghz only wifi (a lot of alexas, shellys etc) about the ticket to netgear it would be good if i could do it but it seems to be in germany their is no option to pay for the support so i don t have any chance to connect to support. Also my messages to eg Blanco etc will not be answered.
Just wanted to give an update - a big thank you to Netgear for absolutely bringing my work from home to a complete standstill! Whether it's wired or wireless... I know I can count on Netgear Orbi's to ruin it. I've been booted from calls, kicked from forms online, movies halted 10 minutes in. Thankfully we have a fix - reboot and reload every time. I'd put in a ticket, but I'm not sure I can stay online long enough to go through that.

"Thankfully we have a fix - reboot and reload every time" What does reload every time mean?

It was mostly said tongue in cheek, but am referring to factory resets. Power cycling. Though most of the time I just release and renew my IP address until the Orbi decides to maintain a consistent connection.
For instance, just to post this, I had to release and renew my IP address on my ethernet connection 4 times. I'm just getting warmed up. Thankfully my phone connection to the cell tower miles away is consistent. Sucks that the wired connection in the other room cannot seem to offer that same consistency.
another week gone and still no solution. whats going on there, are they all on vacation or just ignore their customer?
at least to have a beta to test, it can t be worser like today. so i m happy to be a beta tester if it helps, but as mentioned no response from the Netgear Guys/Womens here :-(

FW fixed don't come over night. Just have to keep an eye on the NG download site. NG doesn't annouce when new FW is forthcoming.
believe me this is a bookmark which i open several times a day and i m also working for a vendor but never ever let s customer a long time in the rain. yes software is software and their could be bugs but we are speaking about that the base functionality of this product which isn t working proberly since 2 month (at least for me) so it s not acceptable. The problem is i can t give it back nor i can sell it to anyone atm without to have a really bad feeling.
- titaniumrx8ApprenticeFinally had it with the Orbi753. Packed it up and returned it to Costco.
I actually had it working well but I can't abide by the unexpected, incomplete firmware updates, followed by two days of reboots and relogging on all of the IoT devices that won't rejoin the network automatically.
I know how to block the auto-updates with an upstream router but why should I? My upstream router is a Nighthawk which works fine. So, I kept the upstream router and ditched the Orbi.
Good luck to all of you who stay with Orbi. My next network product won't be Netgear.- antProdigy

Haven't decided yet. Leaning towards a Linksys Velop 6 but haven't finished researching it. Will also consider Asus and TP-link. The Linksys 3 year Warrany AND Support gives me some confidence that they stand behind their products. I know that the Velop isn't the fastest of the mesh systems but absolute speed isn't a big concern. Stability is. I'm too old to climb trees and go into the attic every time the network hiccups.:smileyfrustrated: If anyone knows a mesh system that allows a VPN to be installed on the router so I don't need one on every device I'd probably buy one of those.
As I noted above, I actually liked the Orbi when it was working but they pushed 2 updates to me in 2 weeks and it was enough.
BTW, the thing that got to me most was that ever since the last 3.x rev, the satellites wouldn't daisy chain anymore which meant that the far satellite was getting half the performance with its 80' home run back to the router than chaining off the satellite that was in the middle of the house.
Costco will now send it back to NG who will no doubt send it out as a warranty replacement for someone.

It's been 9 days since i returned the RBK753 to Costco and fired up my 5 year old Nighthawk R7900 and TP-Link Extender. I've had no forced reboots, no incomplete system backups and no devices have disconnected. Absolute measured performance is lower, but EFFECTIVE performance is more than adequate. Most days there are 3 sometimes 4 TVs streaming 1080 and 4k simultaneously with streaming smart speakers, VOIP and Zoom calls all in the mix.
I also have the guest network under its own VPN with no access to network resources other than the web which I couldn't do with Orbi.
Others have asked what I will replace with but I am going to wait a while. Netgear has announced their 4 channel mesh so I would expect other manufacturers to do likewise and prices will eventually drop on the 3 channel products which are more than adequate for my needs. (Costco is now selling the RBK753 for $350 in case anyone wants to start over again)

NG can't get three channels right, I wouldn't hold my breath to see what they do with 4 channels. It's already a problem looking for an answer...

The way I read it, titaniumrx8, is waiting for the 4 channel units to come out so the three channel units become cheaper. Given if NG comes out with 4 channel units, others will as well and THEIR 3 channel products will also become cheaper which is what he/she wants.
I think most people agree, though, NG is done - stay away and don't touch with a 10' pole so to speak.

It's quite telling when a product support forum starts being crowded with other product recommendations to skip the product altogether...
I've been lurking not because my issue went away, but because I figured there would be no sensible, actionable solution we would find in future posts.
To continue with the first point: Does anyone have luck with returning this unit to Costco after its return period? I've heard stories people returning unsatifactory products at costco even if it's past the period just because they want to be a good merchant.
Costco should take it back, I have never had any trouble returning a product from them. Sadly I bought my RBR752 directly from Netgear and am stuck with it. I have since moved on to the TP-Link Deco AX68 for now and it works flawlessly for me. I'll sell my RBR752 but have a conscience, unlike Netgear so will pile it in a corner until someday a fix is out then sell it. Will never buy another Netgear product again.

Is there hardwarerevision for Orbis?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
I'll leave this run into the weekend for sure.
Not that I know of. There was for Orbi 50 series, v1 and v2.
Only thing i can think of that that either your RBR is faulty or something your connecting to the switch maybe causing problems.
I'd isolate and disconnect the wired deivces from the switch and test one device at a time with the switch and with out the switch and see if maybe something appears or behavior changes. Does the problem present it self with the RBS turned OFF and only the RBR running with the switch?
I'll keep an eye on this for now.
i just spent the last 2 1/2 f**king hours trying to get the Orbi back up and running. at 6:30pm tonight the intenet just dropped off, first thing i did was to look at the comcast modem lights and Orbi lights. comcast was on a white light, which means all is good. i contacted comcast to double check my service and i was told all is good. which i belive since i have no trouble with comcast internet. the orbi is the PROBLEM. i rebooted the comcast and the Orbi, the comcast came online and the Orbi dicked around..... the orbi and the satilights where showing the magenta lights and i rebooted them again, and waited... magenta, to blue and then no lights. that should mean all is on line..... NO, it means Orbi looks like its online but the devices in my home were trying to connect to the satilights and were getting dropped, i watched this happen and it has pissed me off to no return. i then logged into the Orbi router and watch the devices drop off again... 5 times i rebooted and nothing happened, the last time i rebooted i could not log into the Orbi router, i ran the windows diagnostics and it fixed the IP configuration and that fixed the Orbi then all my devices started to come online.....i bought these at costco.......i still have time to return them, Netgear has spent a lot of time on their new gear and not enough time on the present gear...this problem has happend before and will happen a again until its fixed or i get rid of it. any better gear out there ?

On paper the Orbi is probably the " best spec" mesh system. In reality, it lived up to that best-in-class status for almost 3 months (while it was on 3.x rev firmware). As soon as the ref 4.x firmware got pushed, the problems started. Mine went from rock solid backhaul, strong WiFi everywhere and great performance to requiring hours of researching, tinkering and support calls to get everything working again. I wasn't willing to go to the extremes others have gone to to bandaid the Orbi and returned mine to Costco.
To answer your question as to anything better... I haven't found anything yet that might meet my requirements but I'm in no hurry. My old Nighthawk and extender are working well enough. Since my ISP can't give me more than 100mbs, getting scorching speeds isn't a big deal. Even with just 100mbs,I can simultaneously stream three HD TV feeds and one 4k feed plus other computer and IoT activity.
Asus provides 2 years of support and Linksys provides 3 years of free support. My new criteria makes length of support more important than "best paper specs". Good luck.- ahswpApprentice
There is certainly a "get what you pay for" aspect. Whats so frustrating is that I was VERY happy with my Obris until they rolled out the new firmware. It was working great. Whats more upsetting is that they don't let you roll it back without bending over backwards.
I was able to do it, but it shouldn't be such a pain. That being said, Costco seems to be willing to accept returns beyond the 90 day period, so I plan on returning mine when I can get a suitable replacement.

Like many others here I started to get issues with dropouts with recent 4.* firmware updates.
Been super stable for at few days so I thought I write down what I did.
Dropouts were basically reconnects from satellite to main Orbi. I'm in AP mode behind a pfsense box (Netgate 3100).
Tried giving everything that's running 24/7 a static IP and permanent ARP table entry. Thought it fixed it, but drops came back.
Ethernet connecting as much as possible. Still drops (WiFi devices only, Ethernet rock stable).
Factory reset + manual reconfigure. Again, good for a day, but then came back.
Satellite is only about 25-30ft from base, so I thought devices might get confused (although they never have been in the past). Set the transmission power to 25% for 2.4 and 50% for 5Ghz. Coverage still good (should have been a nicer neighbor and done earlier) but still drops.
Removed AX for 2.4. Still dropping.
Removed multi media setting for 2.4 and set the channel from auto to 1 (1 is what my Mac WiFi diagnostics recommended). Rebooting everything in the network. Stable!
Jinxing it by posting here. TBD.

What happens if you enabled AX mode while leaving the rest alone?

Turned AX back on, will report in a week or so how stable it was.
Forgot to mention that setting the CTS/RTS threshold to the max was also an unsuccessful attempt on its own, but kept it at that because it didn't make it worse and I'm never far away from satellite or base.

Updating to say that while it seems slightly more stable, I'm not convinced that the settings changes make a huge difference in my case. So don't want to send anyone down rabbit holes. I got an Ethernet cable fix for the most annoying drop case, the others I can live with for now and hope future updates make the Wifi more stable.
- claudiutApprenticeconverge2: firmware issues with 4.* are widely documented here. If you want stability downgrade to 3.* This is the only thing that worked for me, after wasting days to try to make 4.* fw work.
If you can reutur the system, I suggest you do so and buy a different brand. Otherwise, I recommend trying to go back to 3.*

Finally bit the bullet and updated to V4.6.5.14. Did it through the admin website. The RBR is now on V4.6.5.14 but both RBS are still on V4.6.3.16. Checked for updates again and it's saying all three devices are up to date.
What gives?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Did you update the RBR only thru the RBRs web page or did you select Update All? If you selected Update All, the RBS should have been updated as well. You'll need to manually update the RBS.

Yes, and when I did, both the router and the satalites were on V4.6.3.16 but it was only showing V4.6.5.14 as an availble update for the router. It stated (as it still does) that there were no updates available for the satalites. I clicked the "update all" button but only the router got updated.
How do I now get the satalites on the same version as the router? I'm on a Mac if that makes any diffrence.
- Frustrated_NewInitiate
Furry - Do we have any ETA on when the next firmware will be released? I'm having the same issues everyone else is (on the current firmware, with a clean factor reset, etc) but am having constant disconnects. Additionally, the RBS are constantly disconnecting from the RBS.
Related, is there someone we can reach out to at Netgear to make aware of all the issues? Frankly, this is my first Netgear device and I have no incentive to purchase another which is unfortunate because it's solid hardware.
