Readynas Pro Rebooting After Shutdown
Hi guys,
My Pro running OS 6.5.1 continually reboots after shutdown both via UPS and direct socket modes. This started to happen when I moved my unit to another room and was putting back all the cables and accidentally put main power cable into the power surge port and powered up the unit. I also changed the UPS model to an APC 350.
At this point, I am wondering if I damaged the cable or rather the PSU unit. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Those are likely suspects, yes.
There are some suggestions on PSU and an extender cable for it on the community.
If I realize that the problem is the PSU, where can I get a replacement for it? This is a Pro BE.
Many thanks as usual.
- One other question. Do I need an ATX extender as the Seasonic psu comes already with one?

I have purchased the Seasonic supply from two different sources, and neither came with an extender. Are you sure you are looking at the right one? The Flex ATX ones, which can be modified to work with the 4-bay legacy NASes, have an adapter that goes from the standard to a mini ATX connector, which may look like an extender in an ad. But that's not the one you want for a 6-bay unit; you need the SFX one. The only adapter that came with it is a bracket to allow it to be mounted in a standard ATX case.
- The Seasonic Sfd 300 comes with an atx extender according to the vendor on eBay. Should I buy an extender to be safe? As to the molex connectors, I think that I will use the existing ones that came with the original PSU. I guess that is ok as well? Thanks.

The eBay vendor may be adding it because he knows the typical use is for a ReadyNAS that uses it. I purchased from online retailers.
- I have now successfully replaced the PSU unit in the system fan on the Pro. Everything is working just fine. I would like to change the CPU fan, however, be cool master fan suggested as a replacement has only three connectors. If I were to change the CPU fan I've heard that the system software has no impact over fan speed at this point given that this is a three connectors CPU fan. Is this true?

I replaced one with a Delta EFC0812DB-PWM, which is 4-pin and available from eBay, Amazon, and Digikey. The speed range is similar to the stock fan and it maintains a similar CPU temperature. Evercool also makes an 80x80x15 4-pin fan, but iot's not rated for speeds below 200RPM and it produces a lower flow rate than th Delta.
I have another starting to make some noise, so expect to be doing it to another one soon.
