ReadyNAS RN104 ESATA+USB
Having some difficulty finding use for these port, so I have some questions
ReadyNAS 104 with 4x1TB Seagate 7200 in (RAID 5) XRAID 6.0.8
-Does it support Hot swap on the ESATA, or must you add it then reboot the NAS?
I have not had any luck getting it to see any ESATA devices yet.
-Once it is detected does it show up?
-Does it support Hot swap on the rear 2 USB3 ports or must you add it then reboot the NAS?
I connected a spart USB3 HDD to the top port, and it didn't seem to be usable till after I rebooted the NAS. Then it appears shared but asking for credentials even though I have not created any accounts yet.

- evan2NETGEAR ExpertWhich eSATA model do you use? You had better reject eSATA driver firstly on UI, then unplug eSATA.
For USB3.0, You also had better reject USB driver firstly on UI. - mervincmAspirant

I have a RN104
http://www.netgear.com/landing/storage/for_home.html#tabs
It lists eSATA expansion port
If you were asking about my external Esata enclosure, I tried a couple including a
4 disk ESATA enclosure (to test it if supported a port multiplier on ESATA) (was not sure how to tell if it worked)
2.5" seagate freeagent goflex ESATA (no ESATA power)
I appreciate your attempt to respond, but I do not understand what you are suggesting. It appears you are listing what I should do to safely remove a working shared external drive. I should "Eject" the "drive" in the UI then unplug the external device.
I am not having problems disconnecting working drives, I am asking questions about what to expect when I hookup new external drives via USB and via ESATA. - evan2NETGEAR ExpertDoes it support Hot swap on the ESATA, or must you add it then reboot the NAS?
Yes, it support
I don't have 2.5" seagate freeagent goflex ESATA, I need to buy one and check the issue.
-Once it is detected does it show up?
if the device is detect, system will auto mount eSATA/USB volume, then esternal driver will be shown up in UI(System/Overview page).

Using a standard, single disk, vantec NX3 enclose and linux or MBT/NTFS disk I was indeed able to verify that this model does indeed support HOT-ADD of eSATA Disk and USB2 Disk they are auto mounted.
I saw no support on USB3 with my Seagate 1TB freeagent goflex using its swappable USB3 interface. I can confirm it did work on the front USB2 connector - mervincmAspirantAlso the link in your sig

It does not contact documentation for the new products, you might get that to your web content team for update. - evan2NETGEAR ExpertHi Mervincm,
My Seatate USB3.0 2TB 9SEAN2-500 works OK on the front USB2.0 port.
