No raid or raid 0
Hi,
I have raid 1. How can I disable raid to make raid 0?
I found topic here, that I can make disable raid by setting up raid 0. OK. But how can I set raid 0 :-)?
Can I do it from admin panel or I had to change some "switches" in nas machine, or ???

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou need to do a factory default procedure. The easiest way is to have only one disk installed when you do that. You have 10 minutes to set the mode to flexraid (which you do with RAIDar on a PC). Once the setup is complete you can insert the second disk and add a new volume.
This will wipe your data and settings, so you need to have a full backup.
Is your duo a v1 (4.1.x firmware) or a v2 (5.x.x firmware)? - ludovit8Aspirantv1 4.1.10
so, first, take out one hdd ? then run factory default from admin web.... then wait till NAS will set up again and then insert second hdd and system will ask me something :-) ?? or ??
what is this and how to do it ?
You have 10 minutes to set the mode to flexraid - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere's a guide here: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=425
You might also want to read the flexraid section in the manual: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 6Dec11.pdf - ludovit8AspirantYou need to do a factory default procedure. hm... I do a factory procedure, I have there just one disk pluged in. NAS started ok, everything works. Then I turn it off and plug in second disk.
Nas was doing something about 30 minutes, it makes also sound :-) and now it is calm down, quite and blue disk LED is blinking (raider says bad disks detected).
I will wait till morning but if it will still blinking what can I do better with next try ?
Can I do factory reset and have there two HDD, will I have still posibility set up raid 0 ? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere was no need to power down. Was this a normal shutdown?
You can start with both disks in place, though it is easy to get a single volume spanning both drives by mistake. One at a time prevents that. - ludovit8Aspirantnormal...
ok, if my current try will fail, can you give me steps what to do at the morning - next try ?
1. make factory procedure
2. during turn off status, plug in both disks
3. turn it on
4. then what ???? it will ask me on type of raid and I will choose 0, or it will automaticaly make raid 1 ?? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf you can insert the disks into a PC, you can delete the partitions with Windows Disk manager. Then you'd start with a clean set.
I would then power up the NAS with just one disk installed, and select flexraid. Wait for it to come fully up.
Then hot-insert the second disk, and add a new volume. - ludovit8AspirantOK, I have it. I made factory procedure and insert both disk at once, and choose flex 0 raid. Now it works well.
That your hint with adding second disk later... I have some trouble with that.
ok, problem solved, thx for advices.
