Not able to list directories from Onedrive

I have had working Cloud services (Google Drive and OneDrive) on my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus running 6.10.10 for a very long time.

This time I wanted to add a session for the OneDrive service. This failed in an authentication error - logged error message was:

System: Unauthorized. It could be invalid user account credential or the app is not allowed to access cloud drive. Stopped syncing with One Drive.

I than searched for a resolution on the Netgear Community and found that I could press "Leave" and setup the OneDrive service again. I did that, but when setting up the session I got the following error message when trying to select Cloud Storage Path:

Failed to list OneDrive directories

Failed to list directory from server

Code: 430070000030

The odd issue is that even if you cannot see any folders after ignoring the error message, you can create a folder - which shows up on OneDrive but not on the Readynas interface.

Another odd issue - it works fine with another OneDrive account - same login procedure. I've tried several browser and different PC, logging out of all other Microsoft services trying but to no avail.

  • Exactly the same problem here on 22/10/2024

    Using a ReadyNAS 314 on Firmware 6.10.10

Used "Leave" and then setup the OneDrive service again.  Got exactly the same errors as you and other people here. See the attachment.

We are having the same problem. Is there a fix yet?

We only get the error when we want to add another Session.

      The existing ones work fine??

  • i am having the same issue - howcome there still is no solution - see this conversation was opened months ago!

You won't like the answer, but there is no solution because this is not Netgear support (not that Netgear still supports the ReadyNAS line).  It's a user-to-user forum, and apparently no user who has your problem has found a solution.  I tried to duplicate your problem and could not -- I set up OneDrive access on one of my "sandbox" ReadyNAS and it worked perfectly fine.

One possibility, then, is that you are looking in the wrong direction and this is related to settings for your OneDrive account.

And here is just a wild guess:  Could it be that your password contains a problematic character?  Try changing the password.

        Thanks for the feedback.

I know it's not a Onedrive PW problem since it worked fine until yesterday.

I deleted my sessions as I moved folders around. This automatically switched off the cloud sync. When ready to put the various sessions back the problem appeared and get this errror message and can't see the available folders on Onedrive.

I already made sure to log-out of onedrive, i even unlinked my PC to try to force a new set-up, i does request to confirm the NAS IP address and subsequently shows the page to set-up new sessions.

As noted earlier in this conversation stream by another user, i can create a folder but it does not show in the readyNas set-up, even if it does get created in the onedrive folder.

Only solution i see now is to use OneDrive as Primary and use separate software to sync but purely as backup solution....

        Thanks!

  • Same issue. I've likewise had OneDrive sync working for years. ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus. 6.10.10.

6.10.10 is not very old though. Jan of 2024. I think it's very likely we can get this working if we downgrade our firmware. I couldn't begin to say what version of the firmware I last used to set up OneDrive sync. I think the oldest version we can downgrade to is 6.10.0. That was released in April 2019.

I downgraded to 6.10.6 and then 6.10.0. No different.

Yesterday,  I also received the error Unauthorized. It could be invalid user account credential or the app is not allowed to access cloud drive. Stopped syncing with One Drive.  Toggling OneDrive off and on just gets a repeat of the message.  I tried turning it on on a NAS that has never run it before, and it failed on the step it asks me to verify the NAS IP address (it just closes without doing anything).

Why it hit others earlier and me just now is a mystery.

When I go to the OneDrive settings on my PC, there also now seems to be no way to specify files or folders to back up that are not in the default folders.  Files not in those default folders that I previously selected seem to have stopped updating on Jan 19.  So, this seems this may be a move on Microsoft's part to limit what one can back up on Onedrive.

I can show all Onedrive folders, I just can't select them for backup as you use to be able to do.

The solution I have found to that is to create a symbolic link to the folder you want to back up and put it in the OneDrive folder, or a folder you created therein.  Take a look at this post: Using-OneDrive-for-NAS-backup-now-that-it-s-broken-on-the-Readynas .  While I specifically talk about linking to shares on a NAS, the same process works for local folders.

You can also use any external backup/sync program with the target in the OneDrive folder.

Oh no. This is terrible to hear.  I've had these authorisation issues with the onedrive integration on Readynas before but it's extremely infrequent and although it involved having to recreate each session, it would always work.  Now it is clearly broken ,presumably Microsoft trying to stop us from easily using the storage.

I am reliant on it as my cloud /offsite backup so I am trying to find an alternative method to recreate this without spending money. If anyone has a clean solution, please post it. I have looked at Sandshark's workaround, not really what I'm looking for.

Anyone know if this is affecting users of other NAS ?
