Single blinking green light HDD light on Duo? What's wrong?
I've tried searching the forum for help but can't find what I'm looking for.... Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my Readynas Duo?
I have one green flashing HDD light flashing at a constant speed. It's bay 1. I tried swapping the drives over and bay 1 light continues to flash. I've tried a new drive in bay 1 with the same outcome. I've not made any software changes.
Is the bay dead? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserCan you access the NAS normally (both the web ui and with windows explorer?)
- LI150AspirantYeah.... No problem at all. I can access the data on the working drive and also access the NAS settings. It just looks like the bay isn't working?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIs frontview telling you that the volume is not redundant?
- LI150AspirantRaidar shows a yellow light for bay 1 and green light for bay 2.
Channel 1: dead
Unfortunately I changed the admin password the other day and can't remember it so I'm gonna have to reset it to check what the front-page says - vandermerweMasterIs the data on the duo backed up somewhere? If not, do that first.
- LI150AspirantI don't have the data backed up... The 2 drives are mirrored so should have the same data on them. I've purchased another drive as I assumed the drive was dead only to find it didn't work in bay 1 also. I then swapped the original drives over to find out bay 1 still didn't work - at this point I finally concluded whatever I put in bay 1 doesn't work.
My plan is to keep one of the original drives as my back up and use the other original drive and new one if I can only get bay 1 working.
What do you guys suggest (your help is appreciated by the way )
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4 - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'd suggest running manufacture diags on the drives (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital) as a good next step. It could be the chassis (as you are thinking), but I still think it is worth testing the drives.
I would also backup the data with diskinternal's linux reader to a PC (which requires putting drive 1 into the PC either directly or with a usb/esata enclosure). - LI150AspirantI'll try and run the diag tests over the weekend and also carry out a backup.
I'm sure it's the chassis though as I've tried three different drive in the same slot and they are all showing as dead on Reidar - they all work OK in the other slot :(. If it is the chassis can I fix it or is it time for a new NAS? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you purchase the Duo brand new less than 3 years ago?
