GS728TP PoE OtherFault

HI,

exactly the same error like this post:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Smart-Plus-Click-Switches/GS728TP-PoE-Fault/m-p/474968#M1034

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Smart-Plus-Click-Switches/GS728TP-stop-provide-POE-on-all-ports-sud...

none of the solutions works for me. Already tried the solution from netgear with no luck:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29801/~/issues-with-poe-failing-or-working-intermitten...

The switch only deliveres power on ports >12, even the web gui does not show the power on this ports. The overall consumed power is 0 Watt, which is not true.

All ports at the "advanced poe port coniguration" have the status: OtherFault

I have used the latest firmware which available on support.netgear.com 6.0.1.18 and i tried image2 bootup to 6.0.1.16 with same result.

Indeed I have another cascaded GS728TP switch with 6.0.1.16. It does not make any difference to the faulty switch wheter it is connected or not.

I tried a flash over and a factory reset - same result. Ports <=13 can send and receive data - but will not provide any PoE any more.

Another situation at the cascaded switch. I unplugged the uplink to my faulty one and suddenly port 1, where my yealink-phone with poe is connected turnes on and the port show the correct "deliveringpower" info. When the cascaded switch is connected, the error with "OtherFault" comes up to this device at this port., too.

Any suggestions?

Tomorrow comes another new GS728TP switch. I will test this. If the same error occures i will switch to HP or another one.

Thanks.

PS: Why do you close the relevant discussions? The problem was not solved in all of these.

Re: GS728TP PoE OtherFault

Hi dawntec,

Welcome to NETGEAR's online community.

For the Ports <=13, after the firmware upgrade, did you try to cxheck if the Admin Mode was set to "Enable"?

System > PoE >Advanced > PoE Port Configuration.

I suggest that after a factory reset or firmware upgrade and before you connect devices that are not needed for configuration to it, try to follow the PoE configuration steps starting on page 44 of the Software Admin manua here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/GS728TP/GS752TP_GS728TP_GS728TPP_SWA_3Dec2013.pdf?cid=wmt...

Later, determine the port that will not need PoE devices, and disable PoE on them, then connect your devices and see if it works.

Also please send us screenshots of the erros when you can.

Please try and let us know.

Re: GS728TP PoE OtherFault

Hi dawntec,

We checked the configuration and log file, most likely there has a error about PoE driver, would you like to file a online support case? http://www.netgear.com/support/
