Memory Test Info
Memory fit into unit with a little room to spare even with the large heat-dispersing shields, so no need to worry about closing the side.

Out of curiosity... why 8? Running a big workload, like VM, on it?

Serving time machine backups, file sharing and a few network applications for a small school (~50 users).

I bought a similar Patriot 8GB back a few weeks ago at Frys. $125, works fine.

Re: Pro 6 Memory Upgrade to 8gb - 5 passes - WORKING
Why does the Pro/Ultra 6 use DDR2, while the lower spec' unit like the Ultra 2+ uses DDR3?
I'll try a some Patriot though, it's worth the gamble.

Just based on when the units were released and what the memory/motherboard standards were at the time.

Bah, the Patriot DDR3 was a no go. 😞
Wish the websites would use correct images for the RAM being sold. Twice now I've bought the DDR3 which is pictured with 4 chips per side, but upon delivery I see immediately they actually have 8 per side. Complete waste of time and money.

I don't think DDR2 and DDR3 are interchangeable. For one, there is a notch for alignment that won't lineup for the other style.

Correct. I hope I didn't give the impression I was trying DDR2. My Ultra 2+ uses DDR3.
I did ask earlier in the thread why some Ultras use DDR2, and why some use DDR3, which was explained.
