Ok thanks for checking on this.

@FURRYe38 OK, I upgraded to 1.4.3.88 and immediately had DNS issues. I want into Advanced Setup->IPv6. IPv6 was disabled, so I selected "Auto Config" and selected Apply. It then saved the settings, selecting "DHCP" as the Internet Connection Type, with DNS from the ISP and the LAN setup being automatically configured.
I then went and refreshed a few pages, clicked on some links, and opened some new pages. So far I haven't had any DNS issues, though it's only been a few minutes. But the immediate result seems positive. I will test it some more and report back.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: New - R7900P/R7960P/R8000P Firmware Version 1.4.3.88 Released
@Synthdan wrote:@Atros04 Are you configuring the router via the app or via your Internet browser? In my case, after resetting the router, I went to 192.168.0.1 in my browser to connect to the router. The first thing it does is suggest using the app to configure the router, but I selected the option saying I didn't have a compatible phone, which then allows you to configure the router via browser. One of the first questions it asks is if you want to auto-update. At least, that's what it did for me, with 1.4.3.88 installed.
Hope that helps!
Dan
I am going routerlogin.net in browser. Skipped app and was met with terms. After terms, password and recovery questions. It checks for routers, internet, then firmware. Never prompted for auto updates.

@Atros04 I don't know why my experience was different, but since setting the IPv6 settings as detailed above, I'm happy to say that everything has (so far) been working fine. So perhaps having auto-update turned on is not a problem. If Netgear can fix these issues with their firmware, even better, but you should try the IPv6 change yourself and let us know what happens.
Thanks,
Dan

I had to as well since I could not stop the auto update. So far so calm but it's only been 2 hours.

Re: New - R7900P/R7960P/R8000P Firmware Version 1.4.3.88 Released
I have had the same issue with my R7060p Router and it was driving me nuts! I finally downgraded to the old 1.4.2.84 version to fix the problem. This the last Netgear product I am buying. Last year I had a 24 port Netgear die on me that had a 2 year warranty and I had to pay around $25-$30 for them to ship me a replacement. In the past they would just ship the replacement w/no charge when it was under warranty. Their customer service had gone down hill fast.

If you try enabling IPv6 on the router this helps with DNS issues. I have same v.88 loaded on mine. IPv6 enabled and no DNS issues. As others reported as well in this thread.

Can you imaging when your cell phone not working 100% after an auto firmware update? Online product review can make or break a business. I got my R8000P from Costco, and I didn't do my homework. If I did I would not buy Netgear. The clerk told me more than a few people started to returning their routers because they're not working right after firmware update. And then there're people like me looking at forum like this one to find solutions. Most people don't want to deal with problems, they just want plug and play. No one want to reset or mess with the settings to making it work as before firmware upgrade. I hope Netgear PR is looking at online reviews and forum to see what people are saying about their products, if they want to keep their jobs.

Enabling IPv6 did nothing for me. The only thing that worked for me was hard-coding the DNS entries on my computer adapter properties. Set them to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. Not a viable solution for most since you need to do this to every wired and wireless adapter in your network, which is a real pita, but once it's done, no more DNS errors. Fun stuff! and yep, this will be the last time I purchase Netgear!

Try enabing IPv6. It has worked for others. Works on my R7960P.

I've enabled IPv6 after I came to this thread and found the solution to my DNS issue, yes it's now working as it should be, thank you for all the members on this group for providing the info to this forum.
What I'm trying to get at is not all users are like me (or members of this group) looking for help before ditching the product, and Netgear tech supports need to do better instead of leaving the users hanging.

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Netgear support is negligent and has not addressed this OBVIOUS firmware bug. IPv6 changes are only a temporary workaround the problems will begin again over time. Netgear support needs to be accountable for their actions and FIX this firmware ASAP. I work in the technology industry and can 100% confirm the firmware is broken and no workaround of any substance has been provided by Netgear after months and many posts. Is this planned obsolescence on Netgear's part?

Something to contact NG support about and let them know of your experience:

Pretty much nailed it. If I had the time, I'd play with OpenWrt to see how it runs on NetGear.

I have a R6700 and a R8000p, both had the firmware problem. I really hope this firmware bug isn't on purpose, if it is they should have a class action lawsuit filed on them. I lost the use of two routers. Anyway I went with another company's router, Starts with a "A". Problems fixed and couldn't be happier. I'll never buy another Netgear product.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Did you try a factory reset and setup from scratch then enable IPv6?

I have not done a factory reset since this issue started. Only rebooted the router then unplugged the modem and router & let them restart. I will find a time and give factory reset at try.

Just an FYI Japan has transitioned from IPv4 to IPV6. IPv6 is the way to go. enabling IPv6 resolves lots of problem. As IPv6 is much simpler vs IPv4. For some reason in North America we are not transitioning to IPv6. Perhaps its a cost associated with it. This would definitely be untraditional to what North American's were known for. North America used to be the leader in new technologies. I suppose those days are fading away gradually.

Jsut as a FYI. Verizon FiOS is starting to implement IPv6 and it has been implemented in my area. Auto Detect did not work only giving my a 6to 4 tunnel.
Here is the solution:
