Night Hawk R7000 firmware update issue

We are having the same issues as others.  Router drops at least once per day at around the same time.

The App states the firmware is up to date, but from doing searches I have found we are way behind on updates.  How can you update the firmware on the App when the App thinks it is up to date?

The firmware is on the router, not "on the app".  Don't use the app
to do that job?  A computer with an Ethernet connection to the router
might be more reliable, in any case.

Did you consider trying this radical concept (which works for some
people):

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for
"firmware".  Further reading might not hurt, either.

   Or a Web/forum search?

Re: Night Hawk R7000 firmware update issue

thanks, I think...  btw. I did read through those suggestions on using an ethernet cable...  My issue is with the App and the constant suggestion from Netgear to 'go to the app'.  My attempt in posting was obviously to get the assistance in case I was doing something wrong, and to hopefully get Netgear to figure out why their app does not do what they say it will.  Again, thank you

   You're probably welcome.

The app comes from the same organization which brings you buggy
router firmware.

If your goal was to complain about the app, then you might want to
include such a complaint in your posting.  A subject like "Re: Night
Hawk R7000 firmware update issue", which does not mention the app, might
be sub-ideal for that purpose.

I believe we released a hotfix for the R7000 that will not show up on the auto update so you would need to manually install that firmware. You can find that firmware here

A little time spent perusing these forums might find many users who
claim that anything after V1.0.9.88_10.2.88 "will not show up on the
auto update".  A search for something like "1.0.9.88" might be a good
start.  One (month-old) example (out of many instances):

With much respect because clearly this doesn't seem to be sinking in, as @antinode  has also pointed out, this has been a problem for some time. Bearing in mind that v1.0.9.88 is now 5 firmware updates behind the latest hotfix release, someone within the firmware development team needs to look at the issue and sort it out. I don't think the auto update feature has ever worked on my own router since purchase loaded with v.64.

I also don't understand why Netgear keep pushing the Nighthawk App as the go to solution for updating firmware. I would personally never update wirelessly. Ending up with a borked router because the firmware update fails halfway through due to a dropped wireless connection, is a nightmare.

I'd like to point out again, for the umpteenth time, I personally don't have, nor have I ever had, any problems with my R7000 AC1900 router or firmware updates. I'm sure this isn't just down to luck!
