Canvas Randomly Goes Offline
My Meural Canvas II keeps going off line. It seems to ne at random times. Sometimes it will stay connected for days. I’ve when I check the menu I just show “Loading…” where it should report my wifi. If I go to Canvas info it says it is offline. Restarting the wifi service on the Canvas through the menu does not help. I can reliably reconnect using wifi protected service. When it is connected my Home Assistant Meural integration tells me that the wifi signal strength is about -55dB. My router does not have separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5. I have reserved the device a static ip address. My firmware is 2.3.2_3.0.3. I use the device to display, on a random basis, my photographs which are loaded on an SD card inserted into the device. Everything continues to display correctly and the device turns on and off at the hours set up but when offline I can't control it remotely and Home Assistant automations fail.Reset not working
My Meural Canvas II (model MC315GDW) lost power during boot. Since then it no longer starts. Current behavior: • Meural logo appears • screen then turns black • device never completes boot I have already performed: • full power drain • long power-button restart • hardware reset using the rear reset pin No change. This strongly suggests the system/boot partition is corrupted. Is there any rescue for the device?Possible to use both cloud and SD storage?
Hi, like many others, I have run out of space in my cloud storage on my Meural II. I like the cloud interface - it’s super buggy, but I like that I can just select photos from my phone and send them to the Meural instantly vs download. However, I need more space. I know that there is an SD card option. Is there a way to use both the cloud and the SD card? Or do I have to use one or the other? I currently use the scheduler option to have different playlists show at different times of day (ie. “travel” plays from 2pm - 4pm on Friday but from 10am-noon on Saturday - i do this with 5 playlists and rotate them so I see different photos all the time). I have 2 questions : is there a way to integrate the SD card and the cloud so that I can see photos from playlists on both? Or do I have to go all in on SD card to really make it work? Can i have rotating playlists from the SD card? Or do they just play in order - playlist1 (image 1 - 100 in order), then playlist2 (image 1 - 100 in order) and so on? the SD card is just way less convenient for taking a photo and adding it same day. I have had my Canvas II for over a year and have loved the Canvas despite many challenges figuring out how to use the app. My most recent challenge, how do I upload Meural membership art work to my 20G cloud storage? Seems I can only upload personal photos from my PC. Need help to get Meural art works onto the cloud storage. Thanks for help from anyone that has figured this out. Hello, My Canvas II is unable to connect back to the server. The last sync as 7.22.2025. The server status is offline, but my wifi is connected with IP Address. The software version is 2.3.2_3.0.3. My family has other canvas that is running software version 2.0.9 and no issues connecting to the server.Open sourcing or allow hdmi, USB, cast, ... ?
Hello I'm using the Canvas for a couple of weeks, and think the current implementation is still quite buggy, limited ;( There are some tweaks still requiring the Netgear cloud, and I'm afraid that will eventually stop. Would it be possible for netgeear to investigate the option to opensource the OS to allow others to develop on it, without Netgear's cloud? Allow HDMI e.g. Google chromes cast , or add casting and other standard featurs in it ? That would make the HW much more appealing , enabling Integration with other ecosystems. tx!Meural screen black
My meural has been working more or less flawlessly for years, and for the first time in well over a year I added some more photos to the library to be displayed, which worked okay, then a day or so later, the Meural just had a black screen, and now doesn't boot up or respond at all Not sure what I can do to troubleshoot this. I tried the factory reset, but still just a blank screen on power up. According to the app the software version was 2.3.2_2.0.12 There was 3.2GB free of 4GB And last sync was 2025-09-27 HelpMeural Screen Black - KNOWN Netgear Issue
I have a Meural screen that was working beautifully up until a this past week when it went black. I have tried all the suggestions: unplugged, factory reset, uninstall app, factory reset again, plugged directly to my router, etc. Nothing fixes it. When it powers on each time, I see the Meural (Powered by Netgear) start screen, and then it goes black and is unresponsive. I spent almost an hour talking to customer service. They refuse to escalate unless I purchase a Technical support contract from Netgear. That is not acceptable. This is a known issue with the Meural Canvas products. I see hundreds of similar issues posted online. Their only solution is for me to purchase another product so that I can own a second black screened device in another year. Technology that costs this much is not supposed to be disposable. We should not be asked to replace them year after year.
