15 TopicsI too have intermittent Wi-Fi drops
I too have intermittent Wi-Fi drops at my house and when that happens my iPhone 17 Pro Max doesn't pickup 5G well and I get the 'no internet message' and can't connect to anything. Wired internet connections (PCs) are still fine at the same time. Most common occurance is when I initially power-on the iPhone. I have the iPhone's Private-WiFi Address setting set to Fixed (not Rotating) and Wi-Fi Assist setting disabled and IPv6 disabled on the router. To the best of my knowledge this did not happen on iOS25 or earlier with an older iPhone I replaced with the 17ProMax. The resolution that always works 100% of the time is to toggle off/on the Wi-Fi setting on the iPhone. I currently have an 852 on latest firmware. Have recently ordered a 773v2 that's not yet installed. I also just updated to a Netgear CM3000 cable modem (from an Arris SB8200) and that has oddly improved matters, many less drops but still happens here and there. Will be interesting to see what the 773v2 does over the 852, but still expecting intermittent drops. Time will tell.104Views0likes2CommentsCasting and Airplay from Phones to NVidia ShieldTV not working.
Before switching to the Orbi 370, I was able to cast or AirPlay from phones to the NVidia ShieldTV. Now, I am not even seeing the ShieldTV as an option when trying to cast. I verified that the ShieldTV and the iPhone (and other phones) are on the Guest network when trying to cast to it.199Views0likes1CommentThe scammers persist
I contacted Netgear support sousing their chat function. Then”person”: gave me a number to called to get an “expert”. The actual problem was an HP printer dropping connections. Ingot passed to the expert, and it turned out to be N Solutions, a scam that’s been reported in the Netgear forums. I was stupid - he was mumbling about network overload coming from my laptop, slimed to fix it by turning off some autostarts I use and claimed to install a firewall. Nothing was installed, I was charged $350 for “3 years”. NEVER deal with these guys. Netgear needs to fire out how their chat got hijacked. Yes, I should have known better - I’ve worked in network support and development for 50 years. I must be getting old :)194Views0likes2CommentsRMA to exchange multiple satellites
Hi, I am in a very frustrating and time-consuming suppprt cycle with Netgear customer service at this point. Will spare you all the details, but essentially, my RBE 770 / 771 mesh system has never worked well since I purchased it 5 months ago. I have opened numerous tickets and finally an agent has offered to replace the 2 satellites through the RMA process. I was very frustrated to learn that I have to pay to ship the devices back to Netgear even though they are clearly defective; however, even more infuriating is that the agent told me we have to create two RMAs, one for each satellite. That will result in two separate shipping charges. She could not combine the 2 satellites into one RMA because they have different serial numbers. She supposedly escalated my case a few days ago; but I have yet to hear from any customer service member since then, and only see a ticket open to “cancel” the original RMA she started to return one of my satellites before we realized it would charge me twice. At this point, I don’t even know if that ticket will address my problem. So I guess I am just posting here at my wit’s end to see if anyone else has gone through this frustrating process to have faulty equipment replaced. And were you able to exchange multiple pieces of equipment (note - the two satellites and router were all purchased together in the same box originally, but now they are considering the to be separate devices)? Thanks for any advice you may be able to share.468Views0likes8CommentsReplaced an old Orbi mesh with a new one
I bought a new mesh system RBE373 to replace the old one. My intent is to use the same network names (orbi and orbi-guest). Now my pc calls them orbi 2 and orbi-guest 2 and won’t talk to my printer. It works just fine with everything else. Any thoughts?162Views0likes3CommentsRBR760 wont fall back to wireless backhaul
my RBR760 and 3 satellites wont fall back to a wireless backhaul when one of the satellites loses it's wired connection; the satellites just goes offline instead which is not what I want; I would expect them to fall back to a wireless connection to keep the mesh network intact. To get the satellite back online, I need to give it a power cycle to then re-join the mesh. How can I change my set-up so that the satellites DO fall back to a wireless backhaul?173Views0likes3CommentsRBR750 Restarting Approx. Weekly
I have an RBR750P/RBS750 pair. It seems to spontaniously restart about once a week, which is quite annoying. We didn't have this problem with our older Orbi RBR50, which this system replaced. We purchased it at the end of June from Amazon; of course, it is a few days out of support. I have made sure that it has the latest firmware V.6.3.8.5_1.4.80, V.6.3.8.5 on the satellite, and I've tried it on different outlets. Any suggestions. It is where the older Orbi was, and I didn't do a lot of reconfiguration (it is connected to the same cable modem, etc.). I've seen the suggestion of doing a factory reset; haven't tried that yet. I also saw something a few years old about email logging, but I'm not sure about that. Any ideas? It looks like trying to coordinate a hardware warranty return is a pain, and one would expect Netgear would have something more reliable after so many years. Orbi770 user - does the IOT network option actually separate the IOT devises from the network by using a different subnet? Are there any downsides to enabling this network, like addl overhead? just curious if i should be using it. I do have about 21 things like cameras, doorbells, smart speakers, that i could put out on this network. I couldn't find anything in the support documentation that mentioned what ip addresses get assigned to the IOT network. they do claim it separates possibly compromised IOT devices, but not saying how.575Views0likes4Comments
