So, having read some of the complaints about others' experiences with 2.2.1.210, I opted not to manualy update it. As of yesterday, it had not updated, but when I checked today, it had. I'm having the same issue several others have complained of: connection types (5G, 2.4G, wired) displaying as "unknown" on both the "access control" and "atached devices" pages. All "unknown" devices are connected via the RBS50 satellite, though they do vary by connection type (some 5G, some 2.4G, and some wired). They all display normally if I log directly into the satellite web configuration page and look at the attached devices page there.
On "attached devices," (back on the RBR50 router) there's also an issue with the page constantly refreshing all the device icons, (like the RBS50 icon, as well as any I assigned manually to various connected devices), and network icons (5G, 2.4G, and wired icons indicating how a given device is connected) on roughly a 5-scond cycle.
I assume both the router and satellite rebooted overnight during the upgrade process, but I manually hard rebooted them, and the problems persist. They don't seem to be important problems, as all connected devices still seem to function properly, but it is annoying, and is something that should be fixed moving forward with future firmware versions.

I would download the FW files and do a manual install and then factory reset and setup from scratch. Others have said this has worked well for them:

I did do a factory reset on it, and the problem persists. I did not manually re-flash the firmware, though. But I did factory reset, downgrade, and then it automatically upgraded again, and then I factory reset it again, and then did all the configuration. The issue with the icons all flashing every ~5 seconds persists, and I don't recall it being an issue with previous versions of the firmware, I don't think flashing the firmware again will resolve that. The issue with devices connected to the satellite showing as unknown connection types did eventually resolve itself, but I think it took something like a day for that to fully populate properly, which, again, not a big issue, and not something that makes it unusable by any means, but it's highly annoying. It's not worth me going through the hassle to re-flash and factory reset again just to see if it fixes it, but it is something Netgear should be aware of and fix on future firmware updates.

Keeps going offlineColor me baffeled. I don't know how to explain this but if I connect an Iphone or a device like my roku upstairs. It will make the Gui make connections read as unkown or just connected to orbi sattelitie without specifyig which one, Once I disconnect them the Gui goes back to correctly reading the connections and the correct sattelites.

The RBK50 and RBS50 auto updated last night and the only issue I had was the satellite was listed as disconnected. I rebooted both units. Then I had to remove and re-add the satellite from the web interface, used the sync button on back of the RBS50 and it reconnected. No other issues thus far. Connection speed same as before update.
So I just found this. Woke up on the 7th, my router was bricked. Had to go buy a new one, as my job requires I have a connection from home. Been waiting since Sunday for the privlage to pay to ship the brick back to NG, so they will ship me a new one, so then I will have a spare i guess for the next time NG bricks my router in the middle of the night.
Thanks NG, didn't want to spend the $ to buy a new router right now.

I posted this in a separate thread - posting it here too...
I upgraded by Orbi to 2.2.1.210 - everything seemed fine. I have a guest network (with a password) that I leave disabled and only enable when we have a guest. It is also set to not allow access to my LAN.
A few days after upgrading I noticed that my guest network was active with NO PASSWORD and it could access my LAN (the guest network has a password set). I logged into the Orbi console and it was still set to disabled, but it was broadcasting and I could connect to it with no password. The only way to turn it back off was to turn the guest network on and off again.
This is a serious security flaw! I now have major concerns about the security of this device which I've had no problems with for over a year.
Tried to roll back to previous firmware; but the Orbi just automatically updates to the latest.
Anyone else seen this guest network issue?

Hope someone can help me out.
I've been having wifi issue keeps dropping out on my iPad Pro 9.7" version with this router since the very beginning. I've updated my firmware everytime(currently on this fw version) there's a new one but the issue still exists. It only happens on that iPad and not on all other iPads/iPhones/PCs. It's very annoying that it drops wifi every 5-10 minutes. I reinstalled iOS and did all reset on iPad. I've read few others having the same issue but I can't find a solution. Is this a NG issue or Apple?

I had many similar issues.
Do you have any wired devices to the Router/Satellites? Any wired Mesh Speakers (Sonos, LG Music Flow or similar)?
All my wifi dropping/disconnections issues were gone when I disconnected those wired speakers.

I have a couple of Sonos and HomePod, but they're wireless.
For wired connections I have a couple PCs, Smartthings, Hue Bridge, Printer, ObiTalk, few cameras.

Try this:
Advanced Wireless Settings both 2.4GHz and 5GHz changed CTS/RTS Threshold to 2307.
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Orbi-RBR40-RBS40-V2-1-4-16-mesh-network-drops-connection-to/m-p/1601598/highlight/true#M35230
Change the CTR/RTS threshold values for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (2341 and 2345 respectively), changed preamble modes to long preamble, and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only.

- OdokAspirantThis POS firmware has bricked my orbi setup! Was all working fine on .10 firmware until this auto-update a few days back.
Have been having disconnection issues ever since. Tried factory resetting today and now I can’t access the RBR50 with “password” as my access password.
No wifi in my house. Thanks for nothing Netgear you absolute d1ckhöles
Hi,
I have an RBK50 (Router + Satellite) from our isp Ooredoo. its running firmware version V2.1.4.16_1.1.23.
when i use the gui to check for firmware update, it displays that "No new firmware version available. ". So i downloaded the v2.2 firmware manually for both satellite and router. I used the manual update option to update the satellite first but i get this error
"This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."
i tried to update the router and get the same error.
any advice?
thanks

If your Orbi system is from yoru ISP, then you'll need to contact your ISP. NG makes the HW, however some times the FW is developed by ISPs for there systems like Verizon. They develop and update there own FW for the Orbi HW for there systems.

Anyone else having issues with the VPN implementation? I have to keep disabling then re-enabling it to work. When it's "not working" I can still login to the VPN and access devices on my home network, but I can't connect to anything outside of it. I have the VPN set to "All sites on the Internet & Home Network" and when I enable the VPN server it will work for a few minutes, but then out of what seems like nowhere will kill the connection to the internet and give me only access to the home network. If I disable and re-enable the VPN then it works again for a bit.
Didn't have this problem before 2.2.1.210.
Also REALLY frustrating that the update was forced AGAIN. With this VPN issue and the fact that Netgear keeps forcing these updates, I'm really considering going back to my Amplifi system.

How was your FW updated? via Auto update or manually?

The auto-update of firmware 2.2.1.210 bricked my router. Fortunately a manual TFTP load of the firmware got it back up and running. This firmware version has caused major internet connectivity issues. All wired and wireless devices lose internet connectivity for several minutes, multiple times a day. It is not my ISP or any of the associated hardware.
After this upgrade, my download speed of any device connected using ethernet has drop. I am a 1G AT&T user and now if I am connected behind the AT&T router, everything is around 930Mbps download speed. If I go behind the Orbi, average is around 540Mbps. Something changes in this upgrade.... Any idea of what can be happening.
AT&T Router is in Passthrough mode!
Did a Factory Reset, this fix the Wi-Fi issues after the upgrade and the internet issue that had to refresh ISP lease to get everything working...?
This firmware has affected the unit and I really disappointed in NetGear Support... if you push a upgrade, must be tested, right now getting have of my internet speed and all the issues and problem after the upgrade... phone support must be 1yr.
Downgrade to 2.1.4.16 and speed is back where it need to be!

how do you manage to downgrade ? Mine auto update to the latest firmware automatically after downgrading.

I have had this triband router and two satellites for 2 years but in the last few weeks it keeps dropping wifi connection to all my devices. Everytime I reset the router wifi comes back for some time and then it drops again.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
What do you mean by reset? Power cycle OFF then back on or factory reset and setup from scratch?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials. What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
What WPA security modes are you using?Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).If you updated to recent FW v.210, try enabling Daisy Chain. Some have mentioned that this seems to be working in reverse order, enabling means disabled actually.

Configuration:
(ISP) ROGERS 1GB -> (ROUTER/MODEM) CODA-4582U 2a -> ORBI
Problem: Unable to get stable 600mbit+ connection via CAT6e network cable when connected to ORBI. If connected directly to CODA-4582U 2a, then I get stable 950mbit+ speed is achieved.
For testing i have utilized fast.com & speedtest.net
Things attempted when troubleshooting:
1) Upgraded to latest firmware V2.2.1.210 and performed factory reset. (NO DIFFERENCE)
2) Downgraded firmware to V2.1.2.18 and factory reset (No difference)
3) Modified CODA-4582U 2a settings from bridge mode to router, and Orbi as Access point. (with this method i wanted to minimize the load on orbi with firewall, dhcp and other items disabled) (NO DIFFERENCE)
4) Disabled IPV6 on CODA-4582U 2a (NO DIFFERENCE)
5) Introduced cisco switch in between CODA-4582U 2a and orbi (NO DIFFERENCE) 6) QoS page seems broken/not designed for newer version of bootstrap/css/html. I attempted to delete all, /QOS_rule.htm, enable/disable via http://orbilogin.com/QOS_main.htm (NO DIFFERENCE)
