M5300 dhcp helper address

Attempting to take an existing flat network and create vlans to improve performance.

I will admit that I am inexperienced in this, but I have seen a similar setup using Cisco switching.

My plan was to create a vlan for each IDF to cut down on broadcast traffic.

We are running a Windows 2012r2 DHCP server and I added an additional scope for the test vlan that I am hoping to create.

I have not found a method of relaying the dhcp request to the server.

I am hoping that this is a simple task and that one of you can smack me with a link to the documentation that I should read.

Switches are M5300 running firmware 11.0.0.12

I contacted NetGear support and was able to work it out.

The tech made changes using the GUI that I was unable to figure out using the CLI.

Also, need to add a few static routes in my WatchGuard firewall

    Hello WillieEverlearn,

    Welcome to the community!

I understand you are looking for a way to relay DHCP request to your server, let me try to help you with this one. I believe what you need to do is to configure the DHCP server in dynamic mode, for instructions please click this link.

I hope this helps! if you have more questions the community is happy to help.

    Thanks.

Thank you for the reply, John.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the link seems to create a new DHCP pool on the netgear.

This is not what I want.

The Windows Server 2012r2 is the DHCP server and I want to direct vlan broadcasts to it.

In the cisco world, I would add an ip helper-address...is this possible?

        Hi WillieEverlearn,

Yes, you are correct. I might have misunderstood what you were looking for. I believe this is what will apply. Please click here (web UI configuration) and here (for CLI configuration).
