XR500 drops internet
I am having an issue where the internet stops working..... I have 2 Xbox ones being used and they randomly disconnect and now the wifi doesn't work either. The wifi is connected but no internet. One xbox is hard wired. I have to reboot the router multiple times to get everything back online. I am using the cm1000 modem and also the x4s mesh extender on my network.
The firmware has now been publicly released: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Routers/New-Firmware-for-XR500-2-3-2-32-fixes-disconnection-issue/m-p/1636839#M3864
If you are having a disconnection issue, please upgrade to this firmware (or a later one in the future). Thank you everyone for your patience

- Danny80916LuminarySo far so good I noticed webpages are loading way faster now .
- Lukaboii88AspirantI could some one confirm if the solved firmware update in this thread is the fix to the dropped internet issue or if it is the latest firmware update or both please ? My xr500 has been fine for months but for the last few days it’s been dropping internet every few minutes. Game kicks me out of party speed tests go from 350mbps too 25 mbps. I thought my setting were perfect because it’s been working perfect for months but now I can’t do anything too fix it. I’ve reset to factory settings on the xr500 and on the super hub 3 vm. I put the super hub in to modem mode and on the xr500 i ran the set up wizard just like the first time I got the xr500. This time was different it said internet detected but failed to get the speeds so, I manually entered my speed and continued. Set up everything the same has before and now it’s just simply not working right. WiFi seems ok but wired PS4 and pc internet isn’t right :( really sorry for the essay.

thanks for the link but its still the same, if i connect my ps4 to my super hub and do a speed test it says around 240 mbps everytime, when i put it in to modem mode and connect the xr500 its drops to around 50 mbps everytime. i cant figure out whats wrong,
- Shaun0300AspirantHi I recently purchased the nighthawk xr500 which is great by the way but unfortunately most mornings all the lan connections Xbox one x and desktop are disconnected but wireless connections are fine . If I reboot the xr500 it fixes the problem

I would like to try the beta firmware please.
I'm also getting disconnects. Sometimes it's only the LAN ports that stop functioning, other times it's LAN and wifi that goes down. Both are solved with a reboot until it reoccurs. It happens randomly...sometimes it lasts a week without a disconnect, and sometimes it'll happen multiple times per day.
Thanks

Hi I just setup my router a couple days ago and everything keeps losing connection after about an hour from when i reboot the router. Everything stays connected to the router but it seems that just the router decides that it doesn't want to send an internet connection to my devices. Can I get some help?

In general, love the XR500 and how well uPnP, QoS, GeoFiltering works.
But I can't get over the internet connectivity dropping out a few times a week.
Rebooting the XR500 brings it back.
What to do?
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerI've PM'd you
- hharamisTutorThanks. Updated and fingers crossed for interruption free internet.

I have recently purchased the Nighthawk Pro XR500 which has the most recent firmware installed. Would it be possible for you to PM me the beta firmware mentioned?
Best Regards,

Just factory reset and installed the firmware update and still having the same issue as before. internet works, then disconnects from the internet. internal network and wifi works fine, but anything coming in from the wan stops working. i have no xbox or ps4 plugged in while i am doing these tests.
It's very annoying, should i return this and exchange it with a new unit?

Hello,
My wifi always reboot every morning, I will need to reconfigure it over and over again every morning.
Anyway to fix this?

Having the same issue as a lot of people here. Random internet drop outs. Atleast once a day sometimes 2-3. A reset of the router fixes the issue...temporarily. Have the most recent firmware installed 2.3.2.32.

Is there newer then V2.3.2.32-802-3-az-1009 now ? I was thinking about buying the xr700 till i saw people are complaing about the same problems on it.

- Hi,
Is there a more recent beta to try for the XR500?
- serpentdeceiverAspirant
I have been having this exact issue since I purchased the XR500 and the newest firmware release only made the lose of internet functions happen more often.
I have my XR500 router conected to a ARRIS CM3200A modem. When the internet stops working through the router, I can plug my devices directly into the modem and see that the ISP and modem are functioning as intended, as far as I can tell.
The issue seems to be heavily or entirely releated to my XBox One X. I have noticed the hard disk spinning up to download and install updates at the same moment the XR500 stops serving my devices. It does not disconnect, reset or crash. I can log into the router via 192.168.1.1 and nothing looks out of the ordinairy in the logs.
I turned off auto updates and put the power option on my XBox One X (connected via LAN) and my XBox One S (connected through wifi) to power saving mode. This did not stop the issue.
Tonight I installed Hitman 2 and related DLCs onto my XBox One X. During the installion from DISC it also downloaded large files. The XR500 disconnected within 10 minutes over and over again. I unplugged the CAT7 cable from the XBox One X and set-up a wifi connection. I still lost internet functionality on all other decives, wifi and LAN, within moments. This was while the XBox One X was powered on, not off/asleep.
I turned my power option back to Instant on mode and let the game install while powered down. I did not pay attention to if the disconnects continued, but instead watched a Blu-Ray. Considering that quit a few hours my game is still not installed, I have to assume time was wasted sitting idle, waiting on the router to bring itself back online.
The only "fix" for this issue is to turn the power off and then back on again and wait for the router to reboot. This isn't what I was expecting when I replaced my functional, but underpowered sub-$100 DD-WRT router I had used for six years without issue with a $300.00 "premium" device.

Hi Serpent - that's a serious problem you're having there, sorry to hear it. I recommend you contact NETGEAR's official support asap to see if they can give you steps to fix or possibly replace the unit: https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
